I finally got hold of a scanner, and scanned the IRM Quad 4 Installation manual that I've had, forever. All 46 pages. It's on a 16 MB PDF file (or a DOCX file, if you would prefer.)
Edit - It only addresses 87 and 88, but I'm guessing that won't be a show stopper.
Does anyone have a website where they could host this? Since it's a rather large file, I really don't want to mail it to a bunch of individuals. I'm waiting for it to be posted on the GA Fieros website, but I figure I'll offer it to anyone else who can host it, as well. (Since IRM is out of business, I'm guessing that this is now "public domain".)

Edited - I have removed the link. Apparently the popularity of the PDF has caused our server to eat its tail. Sorry about that. Still looking for someone who can host it.

Fantastic!!!!! I just may change my mind about putting that Ecotech in the convertible. I wonder how hard it would be to change a few things around for an 84.......

Thanks Raydar. I doubt I'd ever install a Quad 4 from scratch myself, but it's nice to have this manual just in case I ever stumble across a Fiero for sale locally that has had this transplant. I figure this would be a good combination for autocross.

I have a forum, That I could put it all in the tech forum area..
I could also on my night off, post the whole thing on here, in a thread, it take a few nights, but might be worth it to have it on this forum and use the sites photo installer..

I knew two guys that had Quad 4 swaps. This was way back in the mid 1990's. IIRC the quad four required quite a bit of fabrication to fit , cradle modification , shift mechanism reworking etc. Both owners enjoyed driving them and reported Duke type performance below 2500 RPM and a strong surge of power above that. The Quad Four engine is quite old, it began in 1987 and GM made it until the Ecotec came out. While the engine has a good record it would seem to make more sense to do the Ecotec swap. The engine is easier to find in great shape, has an abundant performance aftermarket, runs smoother and performs better. I have not seen a Quad Four Fiero in many years and swaps are few, but we can also say that about the Ecotec.

Fine. Everyone just effing forget it. Just not worth the trouble. 'Cause Dennis said so.
Thanks, once again, for your invaluable enlightened input, Dennis.

Only ignorant people and idiots talk about other people. Intelligent people talk about cars, engines things and events. A forum is made for the open exchange of ideas and opinions . Apparently the standard is that I am not entitled to my opinion.

Of course you are. And so, apparently, is everyone else. Ad nauseum. It seems that if an idea is worth sharing, it's worth you pissing all over it.
A while back (too long ago, actually) someone asked about the Quad 4 installation, and I promised that I would scan the instructions and try to get them to people. I finally got a scanner together, and spent several hours scanning and converting files, and was letting people know that it was out there. This was not to debate the worthiness of the swap. I personally don't care who does or doesn't do the swap. Just making the information available, as promised. I certainly don't give a rat's azz what you think about it.
Raydar, have you considered using Dropbox to distribute the Quad 4 installation manual? A friend of mine uses this free service to share large video files. Works great.

Thanks, Patrick. No, I haven't. But I'll look into it. I think that "she who must be obeyed" uses it.

My remark still stands. Only uneducated and crass idiots talk about people and the more they talk, the more obvious it becomes.. As soon as an argument goes personal the person making the scurrilous remark has already lost the argument. How can any mature person with a brain feel that personal insults can ever be productive? As for ideas and opinions, we are all here for those. I will keep giving them whether they are liked or not. As my posts are always about engines, cars, events and car related stuff, never personal, they always says something and offer thought provoking options for rational and civil discussion.
