about 3/16"-1/4" FIBERGLASS, for making Body Panels. what home depot has is not much more than cheap plastic. it looks like what "CAR-LO" ( https://www.fiero.nl/forum/F.../HTML/000129-10.html ) is using to make his panels. I sent him a PM, and asked where he got it, did not get an answer.
Contact a boat or RV repair facility near you. When I did work for a big RV/boat dealer here, they got bulk replacement paneling from the various manufacturers. Some they got was 12'X35' (for a whole side of a motorhome).
Just got a pm from Car-lo, he says he is using old Fiero HOODS he cut up because they bend both ways. I thought it was fiberglass sheets. I would think fiberglass sheet would be cheaper than buying hoods though, and easily be glassed together. Have to investigate. thanks
You use the sheets of insulation to build up a base shape to pull a mold from. Then you make a mold, and use that mold to create a real fiberglass part. Or you just skip the mold part, make a one-off fiberglass part, and get rid of the insulation material underneath the finished part.
I don't know why anyone would want to use hoods from a Fiero for that. They are not fiberglass, and not exactly cheap to get. Plus, cutting them up into small bits to make other parts from means fewer actual hoods for people who do need one for their cars.
