You could probably expect a blown head gasket and the nightmares that will ensue. From all my research on the 4.9 here on Pennocks, the overwhelming info points to the 4.9 as an engine that is happiest in stock form and engineered to it's build limits. Some have been successful with adapting turbo's or blowers...time will tell. But the painfull stories I've read of failed mods to the 4.9 keep me from trying any. Ok, I'd consider the allante intake. Besides I'm happy with it the way it is! Don't let me stop you though, just use the search function.

Good luck!

You haven't heard of HER86GT? Turbo'd 4.9 running 11+ seconds on the quarter mile?

The 4.9 will take boost easily.

The real challenge is turbo on a carb.

You may find some info on www.hotrodders.com

I wish you luck on it.

You can pressurize the carb, if you also seal it & add a way to increase the fuel pressure to compensate for boost. Or you can do a pull-through setup (no intercooler!) either mounting the carb in front of the turbo or using a priority valve. You can probably find lots of these two setups with a good search.

A carb lends itself to a super charger more than a turbo.

If you go on the Holley website you can see the options there.

The intake manifold would have to have an adapter plate, but it is do-able. You are into an area where very few have gone before if you want to turbo a carb.
