Have noticed recently that not shifting into gear so smoothly....Kind of bangs into drive and reverse .... Engine block seems to lift slightly..... Is this a Motor Mount, or a Transmission problem.....? I've got 77,000 miles ( Original )

I would vote 30 year old rubber motor/trans/dogbone mounts before I would look too hard at the internals of the trans, especially with only 77,000 miles on the clock.

Make sure your fluid levels are good and look at getting new mounts.

Motor mount: ANCHOR Part # 2472 ~$8.50
Dog Bone (torque strut) mount: ANCHOR Part # 2761 ~$9.00
Front trans mount: ANCHOR Part # 2466 ~$5.00
Rear trans mount: ANCHOR Part # 2467 ~$5.00

That looks like a few more miles than 77k, but that's the idea.

I believe it would be the dog bone , or rear trans mount. but while you're doing it, the cost is low, so replace them ALL.
