Hi it is Melanie. Amanda is physically 23 years old. Mentally 6 to 9 years. has full use of hands, walks. She does talk, and could carry an I pad. Her favorite things in life are diney movies(beauty and the beast, lion king), she also loves dinosaurs(jurasic park). Her vocabulary is like that of a 6 year old. I hope this helps.

How much use of her hands does she have? Is she able to carry an iPad, does she have the motor control and manual dexterity to operate a touchpad? Is she ambulatory, or confined fully or partially to a wheelchair? What kind of vocabulary does she currently have?

I am very excited about the prospect of doing this with your family. It will be a great Christmas present to my family.

The generosity of some of the people on this forum just amazes me sometimes. I like to think that we are all good people on here and you and others like you never cease to prove me right.

I will tell you a little about Amanda. She is my youngest daughter and my angel, more important to me than anything else. She has been my reason for living and working as hard as I do.

Her verbal skills are limited and I even have a hard time understanding what she is saying sometimes. Which really bothers me, because well I just want to do everything for her. To make her life as easy and pain free as possible. She was in having back surgery when the first plane hit the twin towers. But even in the horror of all that she was the only thing on my mind. Not to say that wasn’t horrifying.

I was scared for her, scared she wouldn’t make it. Scared she wouldn’t be able to walk again after it. She has been threw so much in her short 22 years I can’t imagine how she does it sometimes. She is always smiling when we go play with the animals and you can see that she loves them. She is just like her mother in that regard, they both love animals.

She is my little angel, my reason for getting up everyday, no matter how much pain I am in. I think of all that she has endured without complaining.

I have to thank you Jeffrey for the offer of help from your wife but really don’t know how she could help. She was in special ed all threw school and had some great teachers.

She is understandable most of the time to me and Melanie. Soft spoken but hard for others to understand.

We are watching the Shakiest Gun in the West on DVD one of our favorites. To try and wined down from all that happened yesterday. I don’t think it scared her, she didn’t see the nut swinging the sickle at me, that was outside. She hasn’t said a word about it, cried or anything. When it was over I asked her if she was alright and she said yes. But I don’t think she really understood what was happening. How much we could have been hurt. so she is the one i am least worried about today. Melanie got the brunt of the confrontation and the only one who got hurt. Just bitten but still no one else got hurt. I think Heidi's little boy was scared the most by it. I sat him down in front of the computer and had him play some games while we dealt with the cops and statements.

So thanks again for the offer of help, but how could she help Amanda from way over in Cali?

I have a virtually brand new Apad which I was trying to sell. It isn't as good as an iPad, but it has wifi and Google etc..it is just a bit slower, and not so easy to use. I'll send it tomorrow. It will possibly fill the gap until you can get an iPad for Amanda. I hope the hearing aids sell 'for the buy it now', and you will then be more than halfway to your goal.

For the record I dissagree with WD88 on 90% or better of his posts. Doesnt change current evidence in the case provided.
