OK, I set aside the whole day to do paperwork because my desk was in serious jeopardy of a landslide! Ugh. So there I was working on a spreadsheet over lunch when an idea hit me for calculating your ratings. 15 minutes and 2 KFC Snackers later, Presto! . . . . . . <---- i.e. I have 343 total ratings (as of the start of this thread) of which 196 members have sainted me and 147 are sticking pins in little Toddster dolls.
Want to know your ratio? post a request.
Notes: Replies may be slow and will usually come in groups. There is a 3% margin of error.
Editted to update margin of error estimate

so where are you getting the numbers, or is it by measuring the green and red on the bar by percentage ??
It's based on a ratio of the green and red. The size of the bar does not vary based on volume. Hence the value of a single rating either way is different for each person. BUT as a percentage of your red or green side the ratio is the same.
Hence, 316 + and 40 - for you.

One small problem, I remember Cliff saying in a thread that it takes a lot more red to green. Like 3 to one or something. I of coarse, cannot find the thread at the moment but I think that is what he said.

I'm pretty sure he was referring to what it takes to get banned. Yes, you need a whole heap of red for that to happen. The bar actually needs to be pretty linear in order to give folks a chance to see where they stand in respect of the forum. If you have a deep red bar then you should reconsider what you are posting. If you have a deep green bar you and Gandhi hang out. For that reason the ration of red to green must be standardized or it would make the bar valueless as a guide.
If I remember correctly you have to be rated 50 times before your bar actually appears. Up thil then you will have to live with the stress of not knowing whether everyone loves you or not.
JK, all fun aside the bar is a great way to check your posts. However, I think regular reviews ought to be done by people regularly. I went back over my list of POS and NEG ratings I have given to others and I changed a few negs back to neutrals because I thought certain people cleaned-up their act and or became better contributors.
The subjective rationale for which people give ratings is the problem. I only give a NEG to a person who makes threats, harrasses other forum members who have not earned it, or for bigoted comments. You don't do any of these things and you will never get a neg from me. But other people will neg you because they are in a bad mood so don't read too much into the value of a little red or a little green. It is really the overall picture you should focus on.

its very simple. right click on the red part of the bar of interest, scroll down to properties and click that. write down the the width number. repeat for the green part of the bar. write down the width. the total # should be 35, though ive seen 1 total 36. this will give you a ratio of red to green. multiply this by your total number of ratings, and this will give you an approximation of the number of positive and negative ratings. because there are only 35 pixels to work with, if you have 350 ratings there's a large margin of error. so once you have over, say, 140 ratings, it becomes impossible to tell what rating #351 or 352 is.
for entertainment purposes only. statistical errors apply. your mileage may vary. don't try this at home.

A question or 3... So...you can't see your ratings? I mean...if someone gives you a negative(or a positive for that matter)...you have no way of knowing who or why? I guess that's ok...but if I really pissed someone off...I'd like to know it...just in case it wasn't intended.(or if it was intended,I'd want to make sure that I succeeded.lol) I don't know, maybe it's a good thing you can't see them.If you could...I'm sure that there would be alot more people given negative ratings due to a knee jerk reaction to receiving one...even if it was justifiably deserved.
I doubt I'll ever have one showing...as I don't have enough knowledge to be too awfully helpful(warranting any positives)...and don't know the members here well enough to stop pulling punches(warranting negatives).
