Hello Club and PFF Passers-By... long post here... lots to cover...!

I hope your spring is full of green... in particular... the kind you get from Uncle Sam.
Not so lucky here... The Man is getting part of my income... mebbe I should just be thankful that it isn't a bigger number.

NTFC held Spring Fling number 6 on the last weekend of March. It was a VERY fun day had by all that participated, including a couple of guests from other clubs that joined in the fray. We also crowned Fling Champions, with Dave winning the distance toss (2 years running!) and Tim winning closest to the pin. They won customized prickly pear that I dug out of my yard. Attending we had: 16 cars, 9 Fieros. 21 total in the Fling. Event pictures and a cruise overview can be found in this thread.
https://www.fiero.nl/forum/F...1/HTML/084754-2.html
I had a lot of positive feedback on the cruise route... though I still think the Fling Stu hosted (#3)... had the best roads to date.

Also In that thread, you will find that Tom and I admonished the club for low turnout. It is well deserved, and I understand things like prior obligations, money, work, lethargy, illness, weather, or down cars can keep one from participating, I just offer a thought. These justifications, while once uncommon, are becoming more and more frequent, and the more they are used, the easier they are used again. Believe me, I understand... but I try to keep costs as low as possible, the fun factor as high as possible, and the schedule as regular as possible... just to make sure Fiero activities can fit into the majority of our memberships' life. I hope you can make coming events with more regularity.
I know one can't realistically expect to make eveything... but enough 'no-shows'... and you wind up having... No Show.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Enough of that... how about our coming events!?

Our regular monthly meeting will be at Pappa's on the 4th Saturday of April, which is the 23rd. The meeting will be at the normal lunch time of 1100 to whenever, but I will be wrapping it up somewhat early. NTFC has been invited to picnic with the North Texas Third Gen Club. These guys are just like us... except their passion for GM cars is for the Camaros and Firebirds. Their picnic is at Mike Lewis Park in Grand Prairie, not too far away from Pappas. Some of their members went on our Fling, and maybe several of us can caravan in and crash their shindig! Here is a link to their flyer.
This images is larger than 153600 bytes. Click to view.

After the picnic... that evening... we are having a 'Do the Dew (Wipe)' Party... at Tom's place near Alvaredo. There have been several members that expressed an interest in replacing their cracked dew wipes, and doing it as a group. I will be purchasing a replacememnt set of inners and outers from member DIY-Stu, and if you want to join... the more the merrier. Please contact Stu directly for pricing. New wipes prevent scratching your valuable glass... and... improve looks...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Speaking of looks... keep that old girl clean (and the Fiero too!), because on May 7th, we have the traditional AER Car Show.

http://www.aermanufacturing.com/events/index.html
Please take a moment to print and fill out the registration form. We need to get a minimum of 10 entries to keep our class, and uber jealous parking with shade. If you have not been to this fun show, it is large, affordable, nice trophies, good charity, excellent prizes, and lots to see. After a morning tour of the cars, many of us just sit back and relax and visit the time away listening for our raffle number and awaiting trophies. The Fiero's have always gotten a nice reception at the show and draw lots of curious visitors with stories. We usually caravan in as a group, and often after the show, hit the Hard8 BBQ in Coppell on the trip home. Even with no Fiero, come out and visit... no entry fee required!

(thread from last years event: https://www.fiero.nl/forum/F...1/HTML/080463-3.html )

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The following Saturday night, May 14th, the North Texas Mustang Club has invited us to be the guest club of honor to participate in their Cracker Barrell Car Show. We have done this a few times with NTMC, and it makes for a pleasant evening in Lewisville. Fiero will be featured on the dash plaques and trophies. Last year we only had a few show up, This year I hope we can do better. Probably eat at Fuzzy's Tacos after the show, yum! It starts at 1700 and the cost is $10.
http://www.ntmc.org/Home/cruises

(and a link to last years' pics: http://picasaweb.google.com...010?feat=directlink# )

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also in that month, We will have our regularly scheduled monthly meeting at Pappas on May 28th.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We have two activities in June. The first is the Pontiac Southern Nationals in June 11th. PSN will be a two day event with the show portion at a hotel in Richardson on Saturday, and all Pontiac drag racing on Sunday. Last year, Fiero was the second largest club in attendance... representing about 10% of the field. Awesome.
http://www.dapa.org/psn-2011/

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Member Jim East has invited us out to his spread after the June meeting on the 25th for swimming, visiting, and chow. This has become a fairly regular tradition, and if you have not been treated to Jim's hospitality... you are missing out! If anyone missed the 'Do the Dew Wipe' party at times, we might get round 2 going at Jim's that afternoon. It seems like often we get someone modding or repairing something out there.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Last item to mention is our Southern neighbors in San Antonio, Alamo Area Fiero Owners, are having their annual show, the Round-Up, at the end of April. April 29th-May 1st. This is a fun tradition, and gives us a chance to see old friends and cruise the fabulous hill country.
https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/084657.html
Each year, several from NTFC will caravan down (safety in numbers... except when dealing with the Po-Po). And on the journey down or back, we try to do some little side line adventures to complete the weekend. Please advise me if you would like to join!
My favorite shot from last years' cruise:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I hope I did not leave anything out... quite a list there with lots of variety. I hope to see you guys in the coming months! Enjoy your Spring and help Preserve Excitement!

-blake

also during the do the dew event our wise president will be making a speech on how to draw attention to yourself to get pulled over! The next part of his speech will cover the steps needed to take to ensure a citation gets written.

No "Tool" required.

But you can use it if you wish. Keeps you from lubing your locks, Track and Latch mechanism while you're in there.

Believe me replacing Dew Wipes allows and gives you the excuse to do a hell of a lot more. AKA Rebuild doors.

I will bring all tools needed, but if you don't want to be there all night sharing the same tools.

I will bring any and all special tools needed.

Want to redo your door hinges too... Fine I got the spring tool.

Need your 134a topped off? Got a 30 pound jug and new gauges.

Tell me what you want to do and I'll bring what you need.

i sent my registration to AER a few weeks back. I hope I can be there this year. Everything else is on as possible basis. I find out Monday if I'm going to have surgery on a blown out right shoulder. If I have the surgery it will be a long recovery process and for a few weeks shifting my 4 speed GT will be out of the question. I'm off work now cause I can't shift, roll a tarp, or pull myself up into a truck.... We'll see what the future holds.

Dave... very sorry to hear about your shoulder. You get cut on and we can compare scars out at Jims! Thanks for registering for AER, I will make sure you get your swag bag.

Guys, thanks for the good response... this thread is going to be used a lot until June.

Stu... the 'Do the Stu' Party??... (heh)... event sounds like a hit already. BTW, I did not get a ticket tonight... just lit up and plates run.

Saturday is a busy day!

1) club meeting
2) NTTGA picnic
3) Do the Stu-Dew

I plan on going. I HAVE to get insurance on the red car this week. ugh

Stu--- you mind helping me on the R134 front at Tom's? I think Pat's car has a leak, and I didn't want to run any AC with potentially no oil/lubricant in the system.

I'll bring what I can. I have some R-22 and a License for those who need to know. I can top it off, but it would leave me quite low and I have no idea how mine's going to do come summer. It got a workout today, but to me didn't feel quite right. Need to do some math and see how it's holding up compared to what it's figures should be.

134a got plenty.

Dews... About 5 sets of outers. may bring tools to make inners on site if needed since I don't have any ready and they're fun and easy to make. Think I'm going to have to pick up the truck for this event. It's a gas hog so I'm not taking it to Papa's. may have to skip out on the picnic visit to go get inner materials and to get the tools loaded in the truck and drive it to tom's.

Dont worry about the R-22 I haven't turn on my AC this year, I'm just going on what happen last year when I had to call the AC company to come out and put some in. They said I might have a leak and wanted to do more te$t but I declined at that time, probably not a smart thing to do.

If you want you drop stuff off on Friday evening that way you join in all the fun activities.

Just had my first post surgery check today. My right shoulder has be totally imnobilized for at least 2 more weeks. My Fiero won't make AER, but I think I've got it set to ride down to the event as a spectator. I can still probably pick up my registration stuff and have my son-in law and grand daughter help make pics on the voting form lol. Hope to see yall there.

I'm going to be at the meet @ Papa's, unfortunately I wont be able to make the picnic or the dew wipe party at Tom's. Sunday is Easter and I have to prepare stuff for family.

Stu - would you mind doing a dew wipe party at my gathering in June? I sure hope you can make it, I should have a new pool by then. LOL

Jim

that was the intent not to task stu too much in June at your pool party. didn't want him to spend all his time dew'n stu-wipes and not get to enjoy the cool water of the pool. this way he can do some at my place with cooler weather than the blistering hot weather at your place. plus my car, blake's, and terrance's car wil be ready for the up coming shows, e.g. Round-up, AER, and PSN.

WOW!!! what a long dew-wipe day, thanks to everyone that came out it was a great time.
it all started at the monthly club meeting.

after the club meeting we crash the North Texas Third-Gen Association annual picnic.

after blake bailed on us at the picnic BoostedSeries1 and myself heading to
my place and waited for the DIY_Stu and the others to roll in. BoostedSeries1
showing off his new ride.

actually, it's Stu's little girl ride, it's needs the Fiero go-kart body on it.

after a few Hello's, let the Dew'ing begin
nosrac get some help from an NTFC member who we have not seen in
a while (pumpkingcarriage).

it has been a long time since we've seen her, congrats on your new addition
to your family. and it's not a Fiero, how come his middle name was not "Fiero"?

after a few phone calls from loved ones that an impending storm was coming with
golf ball size hail, we made a mad dash to try and get all the cars under cover.

blake figuring out what the hell am i doing.

trying to cool off blake since he's so hot.

out of 3 Fieros only one got a full set of dew wipes installed (mine)
nosrac did get his driver side done with help from others. hope we didn't
get you in trouble, blame it on blake since his car was blocking yours from
getting out at a decent time (after midnight).
blake on got his driver side done, since he almost shattered his window, then stopped.
mine finally got done by the man himself Stu at 4am, yes that's right
the dewing party lasted into the morning. hope everyone got home safely
and without getting into trouble with your other-half.

Thank you everyone who came out, and especially Stu. now my car is one step
closer to putting the "for sale" sign on it.

P.S. Stu get Blake to buy you dinner at the Red Chew Chew.

edit: just remembered nobody help with the brake bleeding on my other Fiero. dang it...

No way do you have that thing? $$$$ Pricey!

If you do then it shouldn't be a problem at all.

yes i do and it wasn't that pricey (i have the enocomy version).

they say it's a one man show but i don't beleve it. the problem is that when i'm pushing fluid from the caliper to the MC, i can't see when the bubbles stop and i have to see it or i'll just keep adding fluid until the MC overflows...

edit: that's weird when i look at this post on my phone the two photos from the picnic are upside down but are correct on regular computer.

edit2: Stu - i found a magnet and long phillips screwdriver, i assume these are yours.
