I am going to restore a Indy for a client. I am excited to start on this project, it should be a lot of fun!!
I need some parts though. So if you have them please let me know, and I need them shipped to zip 95834. So shoot me a price with shipping.
I need the following,
A NICE pair of notch back tail lights. Shifter knob for automatic, leather wrapped, any color, prefer Indy light gray. Maybe a Indy steering wheel. A 84 Shifter surround plastic for a automatic in nice shape.
I will post photos as this build goes along. But here a few to start it out.
All I can say is this baby is going to look sweet when its done!!
please tell me you spent not much over 600 for that car because it sold in woodland for 600 and then the new owner was selling it for 2500 3 months later?

I didnt buy it. I am restoring it for the owner. And believe it or not, its not the same car from woodland. Crazy huh? I saw that on CL too. I thought the same exact thing. This owner had this one shipped up from LA. I saw all the paper work.

I found an Indy horn button in with my parts that I'd be willing to part with. I wouldn't expect much, maybe enough to cover shipping and buy a cheap lunch for myself. Let me know.

Talk about luck. As we tore into the motor we found a awesome surprise. This car has a brand new motor!! The head was SPOTLESS, and we pulled the push rod cover and it was new in there as well. We even could see plain marks on the top of the block between the head. No doubt about it, this is a new motor.

Nice work so far, can't wait to see more! Save the red inserts from the old seat backs (the bottoms look too trashed). Finding a new engine must be a great feeling! Looks like it needs a new coat of paint, are you going with stock black or redoing the Pontiac engine blue it looks like they attempted before?

Thank you! And yes I did save the red Indy upper sections. I have one mint Indy panel and one with some light wear.
And the motor is black again. It also back together and running. We did the motor mounts today, and have been working to un-jury rig everything the previous owner did.

Sorry I haven't updated this thread in awhile. I still have been very busy with the Indy. The paint and body are now done, and we will be starting on the final assembly soon. Also all the mechanical work is competed, so the car runs and drives like new, we even rebuild the AC system so now it has ice cold AC.
Here are the photos.

Its amazing how boring the Indy looks without all the Indy parts on it. Currently the only Indy parts that are on the car is the carpet and door panels. But that's all about to change.
Great work on your Indy, it looks really neat, I can't wait to see it completed
Thank you!! I have all the parts ready to go back on. I should be bringing the car home tomorrow to begin the final work. Currently the wheels are at a tire shop getting 4 brand new BFG Radial T/A's installed, white letters out of course. Also I got the red pin stripe for the wheels as well. Wait until you see all the little details this car is going to get. I am excited to get it finished.

I was just wondering about this car, good to see more progress!
Yeah this car was sooo close to death. It was for sale on Craigslist when I found it. If we hadn't acted when we did this car would have probably been sold and ran the rest of the way into the ground and junked. It now has a new lease on life. Its going to be pretty much a new car when I am done. It already has a new motor, now it will have everything else new.

I got it painted at a Maaco that my friend owns. They do really nice work.
As for the stripes you are correct. I did buy them from fierosails, I just didn't get a chance to put them on yesterday. I wanted to clean the wheel lip up really good first.

So the old valve cover was bent so I got another one. I cleaned and repainted it. These photos suck because they are camera phone photos, but in real life everything looks much better. I will be applying the indy decals to this cover (or painting them on).
Also the carpet was in sad shape so I replaced it. I was happy to find a perfect floor board under the carpet.
After I installed the carpet I had my detail shop at work detail the whole car. Its looks amazing, just like a brand new Indy. Once again the photos suck.
Lots of little details left, when this is done its going to be amazing.
