Chris, the owner, sent me a PM a while back on another forum when he found that I have posted about doing this to my Formula. He says he has a bit over twenty hours just into the work you see in the video. He does plan on doing the entire car. He's not a member here, but he may join.
Here's a larger pic he sent me.

Man that's some great work. SHould get him to design a news Fiero logo along the lines of the lambo logo. I always liked this horse as a starting point for the pegusus. I bet he could do something amazing.

My name is Chris and im the owner/artist of the 'sharpie fiero'. Thanks to whoever made the you tube video, and thanks to the person who posted it here with you fiero folks.
I know the style and technique isn't for everyone, but thanks for the comments. And the tail lights- i kno. Most people don't like them and they are unfinshed. The lights came out of an HHR, wired up easy and the light angle was perfect. However, it does look incomplete and random... but it's how we learn. If anyones got a set of notchback lights for sale, please let me know.
I've been thinking of leaving the car 1/2 and 1/2... i like how you can't see on side form the other. A different kind of 2 tone i guess.
If anyone is ever interested in any artwork, please let me know- i do airbrushing, pinstriping, sharpie & refinish... and i love to travel!
I love the detail work.. After seeing this, I have thought a little bit about getting something done similar to the Ferrari concepts you drew up, especially the third one...
I think a typical scalloped or wedge shaped "stripe" down the sides, with some steam punk style mechanical drawings inside of it would really rock the casbah.

Your welcome for the post. And welcome to the forum =)
Every day, I get on youtube and type in fiero and go under search options and look at videos that were dealing with fieros that were uploaded within the past 24 hours. Sometimes its boring stuff and then there are engine swap videos, and rarely come across cars like yours that catch attention.
But i like the artwork. If you even need anything never be afraid to ask any of us on here, were always glad to help a member.

Synthesis: I like your idea... the whole mix of things. I did the Ferrari concepts because im getting ready to get started on a f430 Challenge and i wanted to put some general ideas out there. Doesn't mean they can't be applied to other cars tho! The 3rd one is my favorite too, although i doubt they'll go for it. It would still be cool to do on something... like a fiero perhaps...
Now that is some serious creativity..... I would just wonder how it will last in the weather? Would be a real shame to do all that detailed work and have it wear off and fade away. Perhaps you could put a clear coat over top of it> ? I would not be surprised if the marker black reacted with a typical clearcoat tho. Saw that Lamborghing Gallardo with the same treatment on it and it looks very cool. In some ways tho I think the fiero looks better as far as the artwork because wether you were finished with it or not the contrast of the all white areas and the marked up artwork areas makes it look cleaner somehow. I would continue with the artwork but I would also be conservative with where on the car you leave white as it makes for a more pleasant overall appearance somehow. This is of course my own opinion and is worth all of about $.02. and it is your car to do with what you will. Just out of curiosity, how do you get it to be so black looking? I know whenever I color something with a sharpie marker it kinda rubs away the area I just wrote on. I suppose you just wait a little while, let it dry and then go back over it? Love the Lambo bull on the hood especially.. peace
Pete

Thanks for the comment... and the question. Instead of using regular sharpies, i use industrial strength sharpies and this does make a big difference. For starters, the black ink covers better/faster and is a more bold black rather then a really dark purple. I also break the fine tip a little before i start- this allows the ink to flow better and make the tip softer so it doesn't 'drag' thru itself. It also promotes line consistency. Also, this type of sharpie can withstand up to 500 degrees of heat, has some uv pretection in it and is resistant to water and chemicals. I drive this car in the rain and i dont have a garage. I will be clear coating this with Flat clear when im done- i've takin a bit of time in testing different kinds of sharpies and the clearing process.
I thought about a lot of different colors to paint my car before i did this... i decided on theis off white because i thought the contrast would be cleaner then say, yellow, or bright green... which would have looked neat (maybe) but not as clean.
Thanks again

Hello again! I recently had a member leave me a message on my blog wondering how the Fiero was doing. The Fiero was featured in the newspaper about September 2010, and a week later I sold it to a guy in Michigan. I drove it from here (Maryland) to Detroit to it's new home. While there I bought a 1964 Buick and drove it back home. I got the car about 1/2 way done before somone wanted it. I decided that if that's the way they want it, then thats the way they can have it. Otherwise if it was for me, I would have covered it end to end. I've done a few other Sharpie jobs since, but nothing as cool as the Fiero. Im actually getting ready to move to Long Beach, California if anyone out there wants anything done... or anyone along the way!
That is pretty damn cool man, do you clear over it after you draw on it? How did you get such black lines and crisp corners, do you use some sort of masking? Very impressive work man.... peace
