Ok so here we go, Im getting ready to get a hood cowl an a rear deck lid scoop as well I figure I have like 3 1/2 to 4 inches of air breather sticking out of the deck so I need to cover it. I like the mustang scoop but there just not big enough So I saw the boss 429 scoop which is alot biger an has a difrent look to it. I also was looking at the roadrunner scoop as well. maybe if someone else has a difrent idea let me know this thing is almost ready to rip. the deck scoop is a must have tho so I can drive in rain an what not. I was also gonna get a wrap around spoiler like the dodge shadow or the mustang saleen or even the fiero store one. I like the large boss scoop but if i had the wrap around spoiler then when it rains the water would end up running down the scoop an what not an getting in the air breather. but the roadrunner one wouldnt get wet cause its closed I just dont think its a pretty as the boss one. i dont know thats why im asking for advise heres a couple of pictures of the scoops an the cars lid so you can see what im working with . i know i could just get a smaller breather but I like the larger air filter.
so just let me know what you think an what your guys ideas are cause once I buy it , its on like donkey kong. if you know what I mean

Thats a lot of air cleaner to put under s scoop. Your going to have to go big. I have a Mopar scoop on my car and the one I have wont clear a 3 inch filter. Mine sticks up 2 inches above the deck so it works.
I have the Mopar Six Pack you show above. It will do the job but I recommend you buy a K&N 2" filter or maybe a 1.5" . You'll need just a bit more clearance for what I can see.

would you have some pictures of your deck lid with the scoop in a closer view. I do like the 6pack scoop. I like the lines of the boss scoop but its tapered in the back an it would def not work I think. Im currently gonna try taking the spacer on my carburator off its like 3 inches at the largerst point. an that would reduce the amount that it sticks up. so if I can do that I really like the boss scoop. the only thing is if I can reduce it by 3 inches I would increase the filter buy 2. I dont know why but I like the large air breather.I think it looks nice when the hoods up. it makes the motor look that much bigger. I know thats stupid.
This is a good shot from when I had the external fans. The external fans could not hold up because when they are laid flat, the water pools inside them and corrodes them
I put a Hayden 10" fan inside the scoop later.

what was the point of the fans. An you put one in the scoop? was that to try an get more air in the intake? I think thats a pretty decent scoop an you have a wrap around spoiler which is what I was planing on doing just its the dodge shadow spoiler i was gonna go for the fiero store one. Does that scoop provide enough air tho would be my question?

I don't like a stifling hot engine bay. It is hard on plastic and rubber parts, and robs power. I tried lowering my operating temperatures. The fans blew out not in. When they worked, they cooled off the engine in about 30 seconds when they came on. However they were not necessarily the best idea
But, if you are at a light or in heavy traffic, there is no doubt at all that your engine will cool down. I run it at 180*.
The fan in the scoop blows down, which forces cool air over the air breather (carb'd). The air exits out the regular deck vents. The single fan takes about a minute to do the same work as the 2 fans did, but, the engine bay is noticably cooler using an auxiliary fan. The fan switch has been replaced with a Derale fan control system which turns on the rad fan and the scoop fan at the same time. Putting a fan inside your scoop is not a new idea. It is done with muscle cars often enough. Hope this clarifies it for you.
The air flow over the deck brings air forward over the deck lid when at speed. Rear facing scoop is then able to suck in the air in a natural flow.
The Sundance spoiler has vents under the spoiler and the air flows forward. Here is a pic I took after driving a wet car down a dusty road.
you have got my intrest with that. Is that a bunch of difrent scoop put togetheror is that one unit. an can I buy it in a model thats a little more hight to it. that is really slick. I like that alot.

So you guys just like totally teased me with that scoop cause you knew there was no chance in hell of me ever getting one. I think Im gonna need some prozak or somthing now. what ever there giving people for depression. I guess I will have to get one of the other normal not so cool deck lids. oh well. Since thats the case I think Im going with the boss an I just wont do a wrap around spoiler.

I have to admit that the twin intakes sweeping off to the sides looks beautiful.
However, from strictly a functional point of view, would a single intake going right to the rear edge of the decklid work just as well?
In other words, would air coming up the rear of the car due to the high/low pressure areas make it's way into this vent located at the very back of the decklid (as appears to be indicated below)?

The reason I ask is that I've been kicking around an idea of doing this and having the vent opening at the back of the decklid incorporated into a lip spoiler.

AHHH thats pretty nice I like that shaker hood I would def half to fab that from scratch. but that is pretty nice. I have been trying to get ahold of the fiero addiction guys to ask about hooking the tornardo tranny to the fiero speedo but I havent gotten anything back from them threw the email. maybe I ll try again an ask them bout the deck lid as well. that is very sharp
