Well I just completed one of my winter projects! Just got done installing a 7" lcd screen and a new PS2 "slim" I used swede around the screen and it turned out lighter then it looked in the store so I might buy some darker stuff, otherwise I think it turned out ok for my first attempt. The flash kindof washed out the picture on the screen but when your sitting there its actually very crisp. PS2 down........ PS2 hidden away Gonna have to charge my battery now from playing games

I have been researching parts to put a carputer in my car eventually.
It will include GPS navigation, integrated phone, MP3 player, DVD, Sat TV (when the mobile dish gets smaller and cheaper), internet, with voice control and a touchscreen.
Man I have too many projects, not enough money or time to get em done as fast as I want them. Good thing I have patience.

I hate to say it but no I dont have any install/process pics. Once I get in the mood to do something taking pics is the last thing on my mind. Some info on the install tho: The monitor I bought without measuring the opening..... ended up being 1" to big so I removed everything from its shell and rewired the circuit board under the dash above the ps2 then mounted the screen to a 1/4" piece of hardboard. turned out better then I thought it would. The PS2 is bolted to a little shelf that scissors down from a frame I built under the dash. It has a cuboard door magnetic strike behind the PS2 that latches when folded up so it stays up. It swings down kind of hard but I dont want to hit a bump and have it come down.
Thanks for the + feedback so far Drew

***"JaxDomino" "Do you really spend that much time in the car playing video games or movies? Just asking. Or is it the col factor? It looks damn good though!!!"*** No I dont spend that much time in the car but for long trips it will be nice to pop a movie in for my passenger or they can amuse themselves with a game. I just thought that it would look nice and not everyone has this kind of setup yet so its still kinda unique. .....Well now that I think about it a little more it is fun to tell people that I can play PS2 in my car, lol Thanks again for everyones + feedback. I'm glad you all like it, I'm not 100% satisfied with it yet but I'm fairly pleased with the outcome.

I wouldnt say it drains alot of power but it takes some. I'll more than likely switch to an optima red or yellow top battery anyway. All I did was run 2 extra lighter plugins under the dash with 14 gauge wire. The lcd already came with the car adaptor and for the PS2 I picked up an inverter that plugs into the lighter scocket( kindof like this one but mines 85 watts of coninuous power http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7153457&type=product&id=1110266394770) It will shut itself off if the battery is low or if theres an overload on the system. It does work too, I was playing the PS2 with the car off and at 11.5 volts it turned itself off so it wouldnt drain my battery any more. My car had been parked sinse the end of fall so the battery was low anyway.

Hi respect goes out to anyone that can get through the wiring and stuff, It's probably not that hard but I hate electrical for some reason. Looks pretty neat.

MikeW- The only thing that really stunk about the wiring was that the monitor was too large so I gutted it. Even with it gutted the circuit board wouldnt fit in the map pocket area with the screen so I had to cut every wire(I think there was a dozen or so) connecting the board to the screen and run a foot and a half harness from under the dash through the map pocket hole to the screen. That was a very tedious job because theyre really small gauge wire and barely solidered(spell?) to both boards. Otherwise it wasnt too bad of a job.

Went out tonite and picked up 2 wireless controllers! Now all I need is a DVD remote and a pouch of some sort to put all the stuff in to so its not all over the floor.
