Well, it's done and we are home... The 2nd Annual California Coast Run was a huge success! (At least in my book.) I am sure others will chime in when they get home.
We had absolutely perfect weather! Even better than last year. I'm going to say it was mid-70s and above, no clouds, very clear and beautiful. We had, I think, 22 cars including one van that was driven by a Fiero owner whose car was not quite ready for the Run. Only two small mishaps during the event - one blown engine and one smashed rear bumper caused by taking a curve too fast. It could have been worse! Had it happened on a curve going the other way, they could have ended up in the Pacific Ocean about 200 feet below! Of course, we did have one run in with a Monterey County Sheriff's Deputy too, but he let us off with a warning... Of course, he was warning us about where the CHPs hide ahead of us!
For me and Rie, the Run was great, the lunch was great, the dinner was great, and the raffle was great! Lots of great folks and great fun! Lots of people were taking pictures so hopefully those will be posted here. If anyone wants me to host pictures, or also if anyone has any pictures that I could use on the website, please forward those to me at songman@bak.rr.com and I will put them on my server. If you have quite a few pictures, zip format is great!
Hope everyone had a great and safe trip home... Can't wait to see the pictures!
I'd like to thank ya, Dale. You put on an AWESOME Coast Run 2004. I don't think that anything will be able to wipe the grin off of my face for at least a couple days.
Also... thank you Andrew, Bob and Scottie for letting me tag along on the actual run! I had a LOT more fun than if I had driven. [would probably have been behind the blue Fiero] Pokey! Gracias for the ride. wish it had made it to lunch. But either way, it was an experience I will definately never forget. Bob, that V8 is breathtaking. Honestly, my heart stopped when you started her up. Scottie! You're crazy man. leaving everyone in the dust was awesome. Extremely fun. [oh, and I owe you $20. don't let me forget at the Rally] Then again, after riding in those cars, driving my baby home was somewhat of a downer. But I still love her!
Now, off to take a nap. Finals start Friday!!!

Thanks again, Dale. Once again you've taken the concept of what a Fiero gathering should be to a new level.
People, this event is worth traveling to get to! I hope to see some out of state plates (besides Dale's) next year. I predict 35 cars next year. Come see pokey destroy his car!

Glad you made it out there, Todd. I got your e-mail asking me when and where when I got home today. Glad you found someone to tag along with... We had a ball!
The pictures look GREAT. Oh wait. I don't see any pics. You know what they say------------------WE WANT PICS-------WE WANT PICS------- WE WANT ETC ETC ETC. Florida is just a little too far to make the run but if it was possible I would.
Jen and I got home at about 2pm. We had a blast. Thanks to everybody who made it happen The car ran great, and Jen realy had fun driving it in the curves

Songman: I've got about 105 Megs of photos I took this weekend - will your email account handle that much?
It was nice to meet some new friends and put faces to the names; hope everyone made it home safely!
Micheal, Do you have an FTP program? If you do, I'll set up a temp account for you and let you upload them directly to my server.

Funny thing about those trees... About 15 yards on the other side of them is the Pacific Ocean! I wish we could have found a nice beach scene to take some pictures!

What a trip! Who would've though we could rack up so many stories in a weekend? Where to start with the stories and thank you's...
Dale - Thanks for an awesome run! And here I thought it was awesome last year, I hadn't seen nothin' yet! Rie - Still wondering where I stand on the Dumb*** award? Pokey - Killing an engine we just rebuilt in 425 miles has to be a record. Told you you wouldn't make it past the break in. 2 trips, 2 busted engines, all in less than 6 months. I'm never letting you anywhere near my car with tools. Bear - What are the odds of the distributor rotor giving up the ghost on the way home? As if we hadn't had enough car problems. Hope it wasn't too hard to find a replacement back in Paso Robles. I liked that U turn you flipped over the median on 101, too. Mrs Bear - Stop letting him talk you into driving Fieros for him. Thats 2 he's given you now that I know of that have died on you. I think John and Andrew have some kind of inverse Midas Touch on Fieros. Spddy - Sorry you couldn't play, I know you wanted to. I was wondering why you never showed up in my rear view mirror. Maybe next time. West and Tennesse - That was definately a fun drive. You guys telling me I made a good run of it was definately high praise. We'll have to do it again sometime. And I will get down to the shop eventually, I promise. Guy who hit the hill - Its not as bad as it looks, just cosmetic damage. Did your girlfriend ever let you drive again after that? Stimpy, Janell, Mark, and Steven - Good times as always hangin out with you all, we need more get togethers around here. Twice a year doesn't cut it. mcaanda - You didn't pick MY raffle numbers! I hate you!
Also, Andrew, John, Chris, and Tennesse, I wanted to let you all know that my heart rate is back to normal. Whod've though you could suffer 2 heart attacks 20 minutes apart (at age 20 none the less) after OD'ing on adrenaline? I guess making smoke come out of a just-sold $5000 motor and having it not start after that will do that to you. I'm fairly certain my heart skipped a beat or 2 before we determined for sure that I had not destroyed or even damaged Chris' motor.
And, inclosing, some deep thoughts from Fiero people:
From the man who always had a glass of whisky: Don't hit nothin' you can't kill or grill. From the sober man next to him who knows how I drive: Don't break it, you can't afford it. From the other man with a glass of whisky and a cigarette: He's (the second man) Sam Kineson, I swear it! Anyway, that car can handle anything.

Well, pokey and I just got his car back to the ranch (11:30pm). We had to drive home to Hayward, get my Suburban, go to Toddster's place in Morgan Hill to borrow his tow dolly, go back to Carmel to get the car, have dinner (ended up at the Baja Cantina), and drive to Brentwood. It was a long day.
Oh, and on the way home this afternoon, Mary was driving my Formula when it suddenly died about 10 miles north of Paso Robles. With some quick thinking and diagnosis by pokey, we determined that the rotor on the distributor had cracked. So we drove back to Paso Robles, got a new rotor, and we were on our way.
We're sleepy. Time to get in the camper and crash.

Wow! And we all thought the Run ended when we got back to the hotel on Saturday night! Glad you all made it home safe and sound. This all just shows another of the great things about Fiero owners... Everyone takes care of each other!
to all of you! And positive ratings for all who attended the Run just because you are all a swell bunch of people!
Although the sample Coast Run t-shirts got held up in transit and were not available at the Run, they are available now! These shirts look absolutely fantastic! We decided to go with TWO official shirts since both cars on the sample shirts looked so great... We also worked it out so people can get their own car on the shirt! I'm going to post some pictures of the shirts here and if anybody wants one, I'll have an order form set up by this evening. The shirts are very nice Hanes shirts with very crisp clear print. The shirts are being made by Joe Torma at Animated Concepts and he says he has tested these particular shirts through hundreds of washes and they hold the image very well. This is a two-sided shirt with the small logo on the left front and the large logo on the back... Sizes will be available up to XXL I think. Oh yeah, mousepads will also be available!
PRICES Coast Run shirt w/MadCurl's Silver Choptop............... $15 each Coast Run shirt w/Spddy's Blue Formula................... $15 each Personalized Coast Run shirt with your car!............... $18 each All prices include shipping. Add $2 extra s&h for multiple orders.

The White Kit is a very nice car. The owners name is Ed, but he is not a PFF member yet. He lives about 25 min away from me, and we drove together to and from the event. Ed and his wife are really cool people.
