The released list for Gran Turismo 4 includes a 1984 Pontiac Fiero and no other year. With all due respect to the 4cyl Dukie, it shouldn't be in GT4, it's a commuter car -(I do respect the Duke btw, our club leader has a 1884 Dukie that has driven over 220k miles)-. Honda Civics will be in GT4, but it won't be the good gas miliage 'LX' version, but instead the high revving 160hp 'SI' version. Since they don't have the option of engine swaps, I believe the v6 2.8l should be the choice to represent our Fieros, doesn't matter if it's notchie or fastback. It would also be great to mod our v6s and see the potential in GT4 like a simulator.
It's definitly great Fieros are getting some recognition, but albiet good? Forbes has the 1984 Pontiac Fiero listed as one of the "Top 4" worst cars. Though WE the Fiero enthusiasts know the later years got MUCH better, the general public doesn't. They don't see or know the difference in "1984", they just see "Pontiac Fiero". The 84' is most notorious for fires, at least the later year Dukes were much more reliable and had more HP.
Most of you including me don't really care what other people think of our cars. But I know I'm not the only one that has a lot of pride for our Fieros. The DSM/Eclipse messageboard started a petition to include their GSX version of their car.
Opps noticed I posted under my old Fiero87_Alex name. Well the reason I brought this up is because I just got GT3 a few days ago and it's awesome. It's awesome driving a Lotus and Cobra, but I see my friend's modding and racing the cars in the game that they have in real life such as their Integras, Beatles, Camaros, etc and I really wish I could do that with my 2.8l and still be competitive in the game.
Anyways in the meantime, I've been trying to get the GT40 in GT3.... I want it so badly! My friend says it has the best sounding exhaust in the game. The RUF(Porche) is still my fav car in GT3, can't wait to see the Fiero in GT4. Here's a screenshot pic from IGN.com:
I realize the 84 Fiero isn't necessarily the best representative of our cars, but why can't people just be happy that it's in the game at all?? The fact that it's in the game, to me, is amazing! I don't know much about the game, but I thought the past games allowed you to purchase performance parts for your car. If the new game still allows that, the car may very well be able to perform at a decent level. I'm just happy that it's there!

Don't get me wrong, the Duke is awesome and I'm glad a Fiero is going to be in GT4 at least. But out of the two stock engines, you can't say the 2.8l isn't the much better candidate. No matter the mods, it's going to have it's limits. The Mini Cooper in GT3 had something like 70hp, the most out of all the mods possible made it around 170hp or something. I only used that car because I had to for the lightweight challenge, that thing wasn't fun at all to drive. I just pictured the Fiero in GT4 with 92hp and don't want to use it just for any of the lightweight challenges.
just signed it...even though there were only 9 total...oh well. buy the suzuki escudo pikes peak version. by far the best car on the game...near 1000 horses, AWD, and handles like a go-kart...
i want to start off by saying have both the duke and 2.8
i love fieros and love both, but in a racing game if i had to choose i'd prefer the 2.8. in real life i'm not super rich to do crazy engine mods that brings an engine up to 500+ horsepower nor do i go to raceways and autocrossing. that's how i see why gt4 with the fiero is good even if it's a dukie. at least it'll beat the miatas and suzukis hehe

John Callies and the people at Pontiac thought the duke was the best candidate for racing developement in the eighties. The 2.7 liter pumped up engine made 180hp and 170ft pds of torque. Not bad. The super pumped up race version made 275hp. Very good. The game lets you mod your engine so the duke wouldn't be a bad car if you pump it up. That 180hp street car did the 0-60 in 6.3 sec with the 4.10 four speed. That is preety fast.
That said I would love to see my car in the game as well. I have an 86 GT four speed. I would also Love to see the 88 formula with the five speed. But for now I am just glad we are in the game but I will sign the petition. I can't wait to drive the 84 in that game the severly pumped up version.

Ya the people on the GT3 forum told me to get the Escudo. I went with the Lotus Esprit, 1047hp 1000lbs torque, I regret doing that as what the people on the GT3 forum said it'll be very unstable.
I work and go to school so I barely have enough money to keep my GT running heh. In GT4 at least I can dream of the mods then possible make it a reality + to you all

i just signed it. im number 68, no wait it was 69, or was it both? oh well. i recommended that they give us a V-8 Archie super car, like the racing team skylines.
i think we will be able to rice up the duke. they prob dont know there is a diff between the duke and superdukie. could you imagine, a 500 hp dukie....

There's going to be 23+ Skylines and half of them aren't close to stock. Would definitly be cool if there was a Archie's Stinger or similar, but Fieros are barely starting to get noticed and even if it is one Fiero in a game it's moving forward. I hope one of the Daytona show pics get put in to Pontiac enthusiast magazine at least.
BTW I just want to say I have nothing against the Duke as I love all Fieros 4, 6, 8. I've seen a turbo Duke (although it didn't last long) that was sweet. Our Fiero club leader's primary Fiero has been a 1984 Duke that has lasted over 220,000 miles, although he has two other V6s. Both the i4 and v6 in the Fiero were after all "commuters" and never a sports car. I just made it sound a little more dramatic to get the attention of the designers. GT4 won't support engine swaps and don't know what the "Stinger" or Ski's 3.8sc are so it's obvious going to be stock. I'd just prefer a v6 so people go "they actually had a v6 in them???" My co-workers still don't believe a v6 could fit in the back of a Fiero let alone a v8.

I don't play video games, but even though there are a lot of notchback supporters on here, as far as I am concerned, the notchback (without the aero package) should disowned. When the average public sees a stock noat nose notchback, they think ugly, and in a game like that, I think having the 84 Fiero is like having Gary Coldman the hero in the next first person shooter game. I think I would rather them just leave the Fiero out if they just put the 84 in. We want to show people that our cars deserve just as much respect as sh** boxes like the rustangs.
