Maybe we can turn the heat up again, and start another round of e-mails. Send your own !
enclosed is my e-mail to them:
Hello SunStar America Inc,
I know in the past our members of the Pennock's Fiero Forum have contacted your company about the possibility of creating a Pontiac Fiero Diecast Replica.
Again, this is America's only Mid-engine Sports car ever produced.
Years Produced : 1984 , 1985 , 1986 , 1987 , 1988
Body styles : 84 Coupe , 85-88 Coupe , Pace car , Formulas, and GT's
Colors : Red , Black , White , Silver , Maroon , Yellow , and Blue.
Engines : 4 cyl , V6
There are hundreds of combinations that can be created, and there are thousands of people out there that would love to own a diecast replica of these famous cars.
I hope your company would reconsider producing the Fiero replica's.
Sunstar is the only company in the world we are considering that has the expertise to create a replica that could accurately represent our beloved Pontiac Fiero.
I'd like to have all the model years, as I've owned many different years. Many of us have the same opinions about wanting more than one replica.
There are thousands of people that own these cars, and millions that at one time or another considered buying one. This would be their chance to finally own the one they missed.
Again, please reconcider this request.
Thank you,
David J. Lambert III Punta Gorda, Fl
(I included a pic of my car in the e-mail)

I don't think anything will become of this ,but there is always hope. As some of you know I have had some contact with Jeff Koch formally of Hot Rod Magazine but now with Johnny Lightning models. Anywho I sent him an email wishing him success in his new job and casually mentioned that a Fiero (yellow Formula with a high wing of course) would be a nice addition to their line. In his response I got "Hmm Fiero Indy Pace Car hmm". BTW part of his new job is deciding which cars should be added to their lineup.

When I go to the hobby-toy stores and look at some of the real obscure die-cast models I wonder who's going to buy THAT. The Fiero had one of the coolest body designs ever, why they would not produce them is beyond me. I have a few die-cast myself,I don't buy them because I have owned them but because of their styling. The fact that some people would not want to own a real Fiero should have nothing to do with producing models. It seems like the Fiero's "bad rap" even goes over to the model world.

"Millions that at one time or another considered buying one. This would be their chance to finally own the one they missed."
How many people have bought replicas of a '63 split window Corvette, or '57 T-bird, or any year Camaro , or Mustang?
I think history will treat the Fiero well.
People look at the model's bad ? naw, don't think so.
Look at the Edsel, Many things about it were before it's time, it got a bad rap, it did have some problems. And look now, there's an Edsel diecast model being made today !!
Take a look at any newly introduced cars, they all have problems in the early ones.
Now, I'm not comparing the Edsel to the Fiero in any way, just used that example. - There a Corvair diecast model also.
Ever see a AMC Pacer diecast model ? Doubt we ever will. - (who would ever want one ?)
When the Fiero first came out in late 83, many of my friends and co-workers flocked to the dealers to get a look at one of the most uniquely styled cars to be produced in decades.
Even my dad, who was a Ford man for years and years, looked at the Fiero and thought it was really neat. (he once had a '57 T-bird) (O/T)

CoolBlue, I think the model would sell very well IF it was produced. I picked up a Corvair model recently, ugly car(IMHO) neat model. I never thought I would see that car as a model, so I guess there is still hope. Even if they decided to produce an Indy Pace Car series I would buy that model. I would really like to see a GT in large scale produced, that would be so sharp. By the way there actually is a AMC Pacer small scale die cast model available. I could not believe it when I saw that one!

Another thing is instead of emailing them, snail mail them letters. It takes longer, costs more, etc, but companies tend to pay more attention to actual letters. If we all sent in our own letters, (there are tons of us on the forum from all over,) we might kick start something.
Anyone have the snail mail address?

I have sent countless emails to the diecast makers. All but GMP answered with a "WE are not interested in that model. Thank You" Not that I think they will do it..... But they haven't said no yet.
A little warning thou.. Most of the limited stuff GMP makes, cost a bundle. I bought a 87-93 Mustang SCCA Race Car a few months ago & paid just over $70.00 for it.
It has just been in the last 2 years or so that GMP has been producing the Buick Regal(Grand National/Turbo Regal)series. They are the only ones doing it.The turbo cars are to be a series of 10(I think). They are the same years as the Fiero, maybe there is something in the works for our cars and they don't want to upset the cart until they are ready.

if any model has a chance of getting made, it would have to be the Indy...as there are currently a couple of companies that are currently making several of the Indy cars over the last few years...
...one another note, I did run into a few at a car show this year from Phoenix, that said if people wanted a car, they would be happy to make them...they were not going to cover the cost of the molds and such, that would have to be paid for by the people wanting it...can't find the info, right now, will post as soon as I locate it

If anybody can find out who has the molds for the models or can get their hands on the molds. I would be willing to run them in one of our molding machines for a small fee, depending on demand.
