Since I got my car as soon as I turn the key the fan kicks on and stays on. I found this diagram http://www.fierostore.com/T...spx?Part=4cylsensors It looks like the "coolant Fan Switch" should be easy to find. I looked and found the other two sensors almost where the picture shows where they should be. However I can't located the FAN SWITCH.
Also today car was running rough "check engine" light came on. I shut car off, tried to restart but it just cranked and didn't want to restart. Only thing I did was pulled the fuse on the fan so it would turn on when I was testing bulbs and all. Could the pulled fuse effect the "check engine" light?
Yes i'll be doing the 4- 6cyl engine swap. However right now I just want to drive and enjoy my new toy. Any ideas?
It should be on the back side as shown in the diagraphm as far as I know. Often some owners wire the fan to run all the time so that maybe the case with yours. If they did finding where they might have grounded the fan control could be fun. If you can find the switch around there look for a electrical plug hanging unused and maybe a pipe plug where the fan switch might have been.

The diagram shows where it's supposed to be. As mentioned above it may have been removed and plugged. If it's there it should have a single wire with a large squeeze connector attached to it. Almost directly under #4 spark plug.
edit: The fan relay is mounted on wall of the left headlight bucket.. Many times uniformed people will by pass that relay to make the fan run all the time. Look for wires spliced near the fan, the relay, or in the front compartment on the left inner fender. Also as Dodgerunner mentioned the two connectors in the engine compartment. If either is grounded the fan will run all the time provided that the relay is good. As far as the fuse. Does start if you put the fuse back in place? The fan fuse shouldn't affect the engine starting/running

87-88 L4 don't has a fan switch. see cave, powertrain, engine, cool, rad fan

Yes it is a 87 4cyl. I guess why I couldn't find it. Fan works now. My next problem is the fuel. I dropped my tank what a P.I.T.A. things i checked. fuse>>fine, fuel filter >>fine, No noise from pump when car is turned. I tried testing to see if pump was getting any juice. I'm guess the power it gets is very little. How offten do the relays go on these cars?? Is there anyway to check if the pump is working before replacing?? how about checking the relay??
When you first turn the key to ON (not START) you should hear the fuel pump prime for about 2 seconds. If it does not then you can swap the fuel pump relay with the A/C relay on the firewall, drivers side, to see if it's simply a bad relay. Those relays are identical standard Bosch 30 amp relays available at any parts store for about $11.
Checking fuel pressure on the 2.5L engine is not easy without the proper tools. I first bought a fuel pressure tester from Harbor Freight tools for about $15. (Cheap chinese made tool). Then I removed the fuel filter and used rubber hose and clamps over the exposed fuel lines to hook up the fuel pressure tester adapter. You are looking for 9-13psi. Mine was right on at 12psi.
If you have the cash then buy this adapter. It's very expensive though.
