That may well be the most awesome thing I've ever heard of in a car. Could it even be done? I'd sure love to see... even an example in another car.

I think the early 90's or late 80's Grand Prix's had heads up displays in them, you might try to get one of those to work. Anyone know?

Simple. Program a PIC to read off the VSS signal, convert to mph, and display on a three digit seven segment LED display.

I want to do something like this as well. Reading tach and speed going down twistys gets rather complicated.

Here are two links for separate aftermarket HUD units. Installation of either of these might be easier than attempting to adapt a unit to your Fiero from a different vehicle.
