I have heard of people extending the Camaro's 3.4 SFI plenum to clear the Fiero distributor. Has anybody here on PFF actually done this and used it successfully? By lengthening the plenum you increase it’s volume, how did this affect the power curve? The 140,000 mile V6 in my 86’ GT is getting tired and I like making power past 4500RPM. So don't want to use the stock Fiero intake. Anybody?

there were a couple of threads on this, but I don;t think anyone actually did it yet. try a search on 3.4 manifold or enterprise I think some people kinda thought doing it as the "enterprise" style with dual throttly bodies might be a better way.
search is your friend.

I found this pic from Cooter in the archives, but I still havn't found any hard data on it, like how much he extended the intake or how well it performed. I don't know if Cooter is still active or not but it would be great if he could chime in.

Wow, I used to build a bunch of stuff back before I got old and lazy
As far as I can remember, when I ran the 3.4 on a G-tech, the stock intake showed 140 horsepower, the modified Camaro intake made 160 and the dual throttle body made 200. Those numbers are not going to be actual horsepower, but I just used them for reference to see if there was any gain to be made with the intakes.
The throttle body end had to be cut and extended about 6 inches. The pipe I used was aluminum electrical conduit that had to be special ordered from a electrical contractor supply store. The holes for the throttle body to bolt on had to be drilled and tapped for the Fiero T/B and an aluminum spacer plate had to go between the throttle body and intake because the T/B's idle circuit is different and it would have had a huge vacuum leak.
hey Cooter how did you setup the throttle cable/bracket? I am about to start the this intake mod in about 3 weeks so do you have any details on the tricky stuff? What did you do?

It looks like it would be an improvement, but it likely isn't. Camaro people report the same "running out of breath at 4500RPM" problem on their 3.4s that you would get this intake off of.
hey cooter how much $$$ would you want to build me an intake like that..i liack the skills to build one..they look great too id probably either get one chromed or bainted the color of my car...
