The subject says it all.. How do I get the coolant temperature sensor out of my 2.8 V6???

I am in the process of replacing it. The one bought at Murrays Auto does not have the right connection so I'll probably order mine through the Fiero Store..

I can't use a deep well or standard 1/2 drive 12 or 6 pt. cause it hits my fuel lines going to the fuel rail.. I cant use 3/8 drive sockets cause they arent deep enough and when i try to use a universal that hits too... I need to know how you do it from those of you who have completed this task on your 2.8 before..

Which hole is the coolant sensor in? In this picture it's in the left hole, which goes nowhere near the fuel lines. In fact, the only one that is near the fuel lines in the stock configuration is the cold start injector switch:

The ECM coolant sensor that I'm measuring on my desk right now is a 3/4" hex.

Ya need a 19mm wrench, works the best, the 19mm is plugged into a 22mm plug. Best thing to do is grab the 19mm try getting it out with that, it may bring out the bigger one that it plugs into. You would have to separate it once ya get em out.

I can reach mine from straight down. ie I am replacing it at the moment.

Ivan.

Does the sensor you're replacing look like the one on the left in my picture? Or does it look like the one on the right?

Need to know which is which.. according to the pic. the one in the middle is the fan. temp. switch.. I believe that the one on the left going in horizontally behind the thermostat housing is the coolant temp. sensor for the ecm... But what in the heck is that big lunker with the brown plastic connector at the far right of the picture???

The item on the right is the cold start injector switch. It is basically a thermally-timed switch that is only powered when cranking, the output from it opens the cold start injector that's screwed into the lower manifold at the opposite end of the engine. It is a manual device in the sense that it is not connected to any aspect of the car's ECM functions. Power goes from the starter solenoid to one terminal of this switch, and the other terminal connects to the cold start injector, and from there it goes to ground.
