When you say you changed the distributor, do you mean just the cap and rotor, or the entire distributor? I assume you mean just the cap and rotor, since changing the whole thing is much more work than your normal plugs/wires/rotor tune up.

Hopefully it's something simple (usually is). Is your coil wire hooked up? How about your ignition module? Make sure that you are at least getting spark from the coil. I kind of doubt that your coil just up and pooped out on you though.

My best guess, for what it's worth, is that your timing was knocked off when you put in the new rotor. I can't remember is the rotor is keyed or not, so maybe it might be easy to put it on in the wrong position.

This may make me sound like an idiot but I could not figure out how to get the rotar off so I left it. Could I have moved it and it needs to be moved back. It cranks but is not going to start.

Make sure that both of the electrical connectors on the top of the coil are tight.

Well that is strang, as mine is set up as per the pic I posted and my car runs very well. I realize that it is a simple matter of pullng the dist shaft out and move it over one tooth to make your number one point in a diffrent spot. But from the factory, I thought #1 pointed more to the passanger front.

Well, obviously you did something wrong when you put it back together. I'm assuming your car ran fine before you did this? Or were you replacing these things because it wasn't running very well?

It was running fine.
I know have a new problem. The mechanic came over and I finally had the car running. He then became concerned about it idling high 1500rpm. He opened the throttle body it was filthy. So he took that off and checked the AIC. My AIC is bad thus the high idle. He then told me to put a new AIC in after I went and bought car cleaner to clean the throtle body.
Now i put the throttle body on everything is dandy except my gas pedal is all the way at the floor. I have the pedal line unhooked because I am unsure were to put it anyone know.

The throttle cable threads under and up and around the throttle body pully - it is secured with a horshoe clip.

By the way, when you set the timing you need to put a jumper in the ALDL connector behind the cigarette lighter plate.

Remove the cig. lighter plate (two T-15 torx screws) and you will see the connector - you need to put a jumper (a paper clip will do fine) in the two pins on the lower passenger side of the connector. If you don't, you will never get the timing set right. This also could account for high rpm's if the timing is off........ put a jumper in the connector, set the timing, and then adjust the throttle position sensor - you may not have had a bad Idle Air Control at all........ usually a high rpm indicated a vacuum leak......
