New project to play with (Page 1/1)

This was my son's father's day gift, giving to him by his grandfather, with the stipulation that grand dad gets the first ride. A little history on the car, 1972 MGB my dad purchased it 16 years ago out of Maryland, 2 weeks after I bought my first fiero. He has tinkered with it on and off over that time, but waning interest, other projects, and father time have hindered it's completion, so he has decided to part ways with it. After sitting in my dads garage over this time, there are some things that need to be addressed as with all older cars, but surprisingly it turned over and started with a shot of starter fluid just for a second (no fuel pump atm). My son is on the hunt for parts and videos on how to accomplish the completion of his first real project and to get grand dad into the passenger seat by April of next year when he returns from Florida (really trying for September before he leaves).

The car looks almost perfect. Just a clean-up, new fuel filter, possibly new fuel pump, start it up and go from there. Looks like a fun project.

Love chrome bumper MGB's. Almost got one instead of current Fiero. Do a V-6 swap into it. Lots of parts available. Just watch out for rust. GL with project.

You will enjoy it..will be a great daily driver, meaning driving it only in the daytime.

Thankfully the 50 year old harness still works, albeit it looks horrible. In the works is a brand new updated harness with all those fancy things that us modern day car owners enjoy such as circuit breakers, resistors, and connectors that seal properly. Thank god for aftermarket suppliers. Maybe the chinese have reversed engineered that wiring harness smoke kit, lol
