I'm not trying to eat my dogs; I'm torn here. Scientists say pigs are smarter than dogs, but I eat them. It is a weird line we've drawn.

Keep in mind that a vast majority of those migrants are basically ghetto trash. To put things in perspective, it would be like a ghetto dweller from America immigrating to Europe, robbing a convenience store at gunpoint, and then saying "This is normal where I come from!" And technically, he's right. It is pretty normal for convenience stores to be robbed, in the sleaziest parts of town.
And that is basically Europe's problem in a nutshell. They're letting ghetto trash into their countries, and expecting them to act like civilized people. Then the Europeans are shocked and horrified when the ghetto trash acts like ghetto trash.
All I have to say about that is: DURRRHHH!!!

I don't understand why we can't accept that it may not be such a bad thing for us to raise dogs, cats or even horses as live stock for meat consumption by us humans.

Because those animals are our friends, family, companions.
I might joke about BBQ *whatever* food, but in reality those little guys can bring a smile when nobody or nothing else can.
Hell, back when we had horses I even had a pony in my living room. WASNT me that brought him there to get out of a storm, but it WAS kinda funny for a while.

Let me see if I can clear this up.
Which tastes better ?
I have seen no evidence that pigs are smarter than dogs, except maybe Arnold of Green Acres. Not that I doubt you but I have seen no evidence. My grandfather raised hogs/pigs, and horses and cows.

It's not for me, but, I am not that hungry. Tons of wild dogs and cats are euthanized daily. At a minimum we could be using that to produce feed for other animals.

I have not seen the evidence myself. We had a pet pig about a year ago. She was cute. Smart enough to tell us when she needed to potty, but my Labrador will bring me a duck. I have haven't done the research personally:
"Pigs outperform 3-year-old human children on cognition tests and are smarter than any domestic animal, and animal experts consider them more trainable than cats or dogs."
Having said that, I also read dogs don't dream, and from my experience I just can't believe that either.

I wouldn't think so, we could easily wipe out the shelters first, then take stock of the situation. Larger breeds have larger litters. I think I had 11 once.
I am not arguing for these people or us going to this. I am just saying it is an effing weird line in the sand we have drawn. It IS exactly that; something we have decided arbitrarily.
