Listen assholes... (just kidding). I'm noticing a trend on PFF. Lots of name calling. I'm not sensitive... and I know we get pissed at people who seem to enjoy trolling... but I'd like to suggest we hold back on name calling. I'm not Cliff... so clearly this is only a suggestion.
As much as Rinse drives me nuts... I don't think he deserves the name calling.. love you guys... hehe
I remember when T/OT used to be fun. People would occasionally bicker, but it was all fairly good-natured.
Not any more. Randye & Tony Kania are the worst thing to ever happen to this community. They seem to be so empty inside that seeing people have fun is actually painful to them. They know nothing but attack & disrespect. All the while claiming they encourage differing views & opinions.
Trolling? Or expressing ideas that do not line up with what other forum members like to see on display when they come here? Judging by their reactions when they use the Reply to Topic function.
I check box most of my Topics as "Politics."
As far as Name Calling, and I am singling out the serving POTUS as an example, I have talked about him as "President Trump", "Donald Trump", "POTUS", and sometimes just "Trump."
I've not ever called (President) Donald J. Trump a "douche-bag" or a "fascist." Nor have I called him a "racist." Not directly. It could be an implication from some of my posts, but I have not been harping on it. I have not ever stated or even suggested that he has an urgent need for psychiatric counseling, and then repeated that statement in Topic after Topic, more than two or three hundred times. Nor have I made a habit of referring to him as a "drooling moron." Not even so much as "a moron."
This is what an unmoderated forum can become... "Lord of the Flies."
There is one active member that raises the question (for me), does he actually have the capacity to express himself in a civilized way? And if he cannot demonstrate that capacity, is he being well served to come here? Seems like there ought to be (maybe there is) a place or a website that offers a professionally guided form of group therapy for people that suffer from what has been called --not to everyone's liking, but I think it's a useful description--"Internet autism."

Trolling the term I believe comes from fishing. You put the line in the water with bait on it and drag it around the lake hoping for a bite.

Let me put myself forward as an example.
I want to express myself in a way that I know is not going to line up with a number (maybe a considerable number) of the other Pennock's Off Topic participants ideas and preferences.
If I hold back because it could draw the "ire" of one or more of the other participants, what then? Do people like to come here and say "Oh good. I don't see any Topics that I don't like. There actually aren't (hardly) any new Topics or messages that I have not already seen, but that's better than seeing something I don't want to see."
Is that not the very definition of "Dulls-ville' or "boredom"..?

I cannot offer a better example of "trolling" than someone who almost magically appears after any "rinselberg", in Topic after Topic--even some that are not even political--and goes after "rinselberg" in a way that most of the people that I have known would describe as "low", "vulgar", "needlessly personal", "over the top insults", "not even remotely civilized" and "part of a scheme to impose a partisan or particular political or cultural agenda on the forum by trying to eliminate anyone who does not conform with that agenda."
The "someone" knows who he is. He would be doing himself and also this forum a "solid" by taking a voluntary 30-day Time Out to create a new way (for him) of Reacting and Debating.

I think "trolling" is what we are always doing, when we go pubic here with something. A new Topic, or even just a Reply.
We want our statement or question to be read, at the very least, and hopefully, generate some kind of response from at least one other forum member.
There is "trolling" that complies with the Posting Rules. There is "trolling" that contravenes the Posting Rules.
There is "trolling" that adds to the interesting-ness of the forum, and "trolling" that does not. And "trolling" that subtracts from the forum, as a venue that makes it worth the effort to come here.
The fact that you cannot differentiate between your trolling and spamming of the forum and normal conversation really highlights the seriousness and depth of your mental illness Ronald.

I think your symptoms--the mobility issue, plus your "conversation" here--suggest that you are suffering from the long term effects of a Syphilis infection that was not successfully treated when it needed to have been, maybe 20 years ago. If not a case of Neurosyphilis--and that would be surprising, given the widespread availability of antibiotic medicine in the post World War Two world--then something else is doing damage to your brain and central nervous system. I think it wouldn't be such a daunting task to come up with other specific diagnoses that check off the two boxes. Mobility issue, and progressive cognitive and emotional derangement.

This forum is awesome, as is everyone in it! Tony and randye have always been cool to me, so have most here. They also participate in other areas of the forum too, as some are only hardcore OT guys. I appreciate everyones posts, it adds flavor to the forum and keeps me coming back.

Of course the point is to share and discuss idea's. Even if you agree or disagree with the idea, the point is to discuss it, maybe share ideas to make it better, or just discredit the idea cause its a bad one. That would be how grown ups with differing opinions behave.
But that's not what goes on. Neither here, or in pretty much any political discussion space.
Someone shares an idea.. Someone else doesn't agree with the idea, so discuss it? Nope.. Ignore the idea, go after the person instead.
Why attempt to discuss, dissect, or go over an idea, that would require critical thinking.. When you can just attack and attempt to discredit the person. Whether what you say to discredit them is true or not, who cares right? It's all about winning one for the team. Who cares if the idea's are good or bad, just as long as we "win"..
