Castration the easy way? Reminds me of a story I heard a long time ago.
The old veterinarian had a son who went to vet school to follow in Dad's footsteps. The son came home at the end of the first semester and said you should see the new way of castrating bulls. You just take a knife and slice em off-quick and easy.
Dad: I like the old way better, just take two bricks and smash em together. No mess.
Son: don't that hurt?
Dad: not unless you get your thumbs in between.

Pretty sure that is a staged photo, using castrated calf testicles. Supposedly deer testicles but the fence wire would be way worse than that if it was a deer that got hung up and no calf with testicles that small can jump high enough to clear that top wire. .

OTOH, I don't know anyone that cuts the whole sack off when castrating a calf, so it may be deer testicles someone removed when cutting a deer up.
