Got another toy ! Honda Gold Wing® Audio / Comfort / Navi / XM / ABS
Saw this today in front of our local Yamaha dealer, I found the sales manager, looked him straight in the eye and told him, sir, I can help you with the problem you have in front of your dealership right now. He looked puzzled, ask what problem ? I told him since this is a Yamaha dealership, and I can take that Honda Goldwing home today and they could get back to normal right away.
He laughed, said that was the best approaches he's ever heard. Told him I'm interested and if he would hit the number that I wanted, that we would close the deal today. His first offer was using the kellyblue book value on my trade (which I'd already looked up on both bikes up) HIs offer was fairly close to where I wanted to be. Told him, here's where I'm at, I love the Goldwing, but I don't need it at the wrong price, I could leave and enjoy my existing bike for the next few years and be happy.
We dickered back & forth a bit, and he came up on the trade higher that I expected, and lowered the sales price. His final total sounded good, then I found out that his total included taxes / tag & all the fees. I was very happy, I calmly told him that would work, and promptly shook his hand. The whole process took like 20 minutes !
Traded in my Yamaha Silverado 650 that I bought 3 years ago to the day. Had only 6300 miles on it.

I'm not a "Wing" man but, I'm betting you're gonna love it. There is nothing like a "Wing" on the road today. They cruise all day long and when you get off you'll still be ready to dance all night. Or whatever.
I'm glad you moved up to the flat 6, you're gonna love it.
My Valkyrie has one. It's just sexier.

You live somewhere where you can actually use it much of the year. Or does it actually get too hot in the summer and you don't like to be out on it on really hot days?
Curious how it is riding a motorcycle down by you, with traffic volume, lots of elderly drivers.
And I admire you're ability to do wise business. I'm no good at it. I've actually paid more just to not go through the back & forth...
Thanks, I enjoyed the back & forth, as I've been in retail for the last 15 years, it felt good being confident knowing the numbers that each bike should be listed at.
Letting him know at the start that I was a buyer if he gave me the best deal.

I'd say our riding season is about 10 months out of the year. The hottest part of the summer is bearable, I usually ride to work before it gets to hot, then back home after the heat dies down. The rainy season lasts for about 2 months. Traffic is not a problem, when I lived in the MD / VA / DC area, that traffic was insane.
Older and any drivers are a bit of a hazzard, as long as we keep a lookout, it's a known hazzard.

Yes, has reverse. I have a lot to learn for all the verious options it has. The cruise control, radio , GPS , intercom, ride control, and alot of other things I haven't discovered yet.
On the short ride home, I noticed the GPS map displayed the live weather radar. That's kind of neat.

Took a 50 mile ride this morning to get the feel of the bike. The confidence the ride gives you is impressive. At hwy speeds, it's very staple and comfortable. I tried the cruise control, found that works very well, gives your hand a break by not needing to grip & hold the throttle as hard. The radio works great, it's surprising how quite the vehicle is at speed.
The seat back rest works well, makes you feel like your in a comfortable easy chair. Speaking of comfort, this bike has a comfort package, which includes front & back seat warmers, handgrip heaters, adjustable foot warmer vents, verious ventilation louvers for driver.
My other bike, at times would make me very nervous at hwy speeds, I'd find myself holding on with white knuckles. What a differance.
I unknowingly had the foot warmer vent open, note flap open under valve cover, after reading the owners manual, I realized the lever on the dash was for those, not the vents in the fairing.
The lower driving lights are very nice, gives extra lighting that doesn't blind oncomming drivers.

Congratulations on you purchase, they are amazing bikes.
to the above poster hudini, they are actually quite easy to pickup if done correctly.( see video below) Also original poster, you should check out the video so you know how, just in case.
Nice one! I've had my 01 1800 Wing for 12 years now and have had to spend "ZERO $$" on repairs. I have just shy of 50k miles, most of which was done in Colorado, but I have done 1k mile days with it.

Look into http://bikemp3.com/ for a MUCH cheaper and useful alternative to the CD player.
Enjoy it!
Falcon Fiero, Thanks for the links, I did see the gl1800riders site, wasn't sure what was the best site, I will be spending alot of time there. The bikemp3 site looks interesting, I like the idea of the MP3 device that works with the CD interface. The video shows how to create folders named "Disk 1" , "Disk 2" and so on, copying music into each folder, the stock controls and display work as if there was a multi disk player on board. I think it has a thumbdrive slot also. Has anyone made an iPhone interface that would work with the CD function ?
I've seen your bike posted here before, that's a sweet ride, I love the turn down exhaust, and the color. The CB module looks interesting also, how much do you use your CB ? Wonder if a FRS/GMRS radio is offered for riding in groups.

Congrats! Honda Goldwings are the Rolls Royce of touring motorcycles: My 2000 GL1500 - 1500cc 6-cylinder 5-speed, (only 18,000 miles) cruise control, air suspension (on-board compressor), AM/FM/CB/Cassette/Intercom/ MP3 and more...
GWRRA - 2 Chapters in your area http://gwrra.org/about.html I'm a member and think the monthly Wing World magazine/Gold Book/roadside package is worth it. Next year's "Wing Ding" is in Huntsville, AL

I didn't see if you already had a CD player, if so, burning $.10 CD's can go a long way rather than buying a new gadget. Mine came with the 6 disc CD player so I never changed it out. I don't know about the Iphone interface. There is an tech section to find answers to your questions.
As far as the CB, I only use it on group rides which are few and far between for me. I use the INTERCOM system much more with a passenger. You can find used helmets w/ headsets, often barely used in the for sale section of the forum.

Didn't know that, interesting information. Never figured out why Winger's never felt the need to invite Valkyrie riders/owners into their fold but, it is what it is. Great location, I could visit Fiero Factory (Jeremy and family) and ride with some other bikers. Oh well.
