Steve is not in good shape. His scalp was torn open at his right ear. He lost a lot of blood., His blood pressure dropped very low, but was back to normal when I left the hospital last night. he has broken pelvis and several ribs. The neurosurgeon says he has severe brain bruising. He was not wearing a seat belt when he hit a tree.
Witnesses say he veered off the road, came back on, then ran off the road. We think he may have had a stroke or his blood sugar dropped very low, but we may never know.
Dam and I thought I was in bad shape, more good vibes he gets better soon, and a wakeup call to all of us who wear seatbelts when they remember, me for one.
Very rough night for you for sure. Wishing a speedy recovering back to normal for him. Brain swelling can do some freaking things for a couple weeks, so don't let it freak you out.
I love this place and all you guys, we can argue all day long but when the SHTF or someone needs prayers or help of any kind the biatching ends and we all pull together to try and help anyway we can even if it is with just prayers or good vibes. we all really do care about each other and each others family and friends when something happens. I have belonged to a lot of forums since my stroke and this is by far the best.
Oh man, I just don't get it. Anyway, hoping for the best.
Hoping for the best here too.
And Patrick, it is SOOOO easaly done. I myself am very consience about the belt in cars----but pickup and straight trucks I am used to as working vehicals that I am in-and-out-of constantly (especially on country properties) so am in the habit of not wearing it in a truck (just convienience)----and now that trucks are all I own, its an almost daily thing that I am 3-4km down the road before I realize its not on. Just 30+ years of habit around them.
I fully understand how it could happen.

He was not wearing a seat belt when he hit a tree.
Don't hold that against him, seat belts have a better that 50 % chance or reducing injuries in an accident. However, as some speeds and attach angles, seat belts can also cripple you for life, or kill you. You'll never know if wearing it would have helped or made it worse.

The neurosurgeon said yesterday Steve is doing well. The bleeding in his brain has stopped. The drain should come out today so they can do an MRI. He appears to be responding to stimuli, moving his arms when the various work done with him should cause discomfort. He still has not awakened.
