TI'm glad to see kids still crowding the play areas near my home.
We don't allow much "tech time".
No screens at dinnertime, ever. Less than 1 hour of "screentime" per day for him. Maybe a show when he gets home from school.
Scouts, teeball. Rc boats and bicycles.bugs and dirt and models and drawing. Math and piano and reading and toys and other things NOT "techy". His DS (a Christmas gift from a relative) has less than 5 hours of use. I DO see some kids glued to their screens, but less than I used to. Or maybe we just don't see it, because we are "out" mostly. When company comes over, I make the kids put away their tech, and we do other stuff instead.
But you know, I'm a little torn. This tech placates those who used to do mindlessly physical work all day, and now they push a few buttons instead, so these screens fill up the rest of their time. It keeps them occupied. Given the choice, many would prefer the screen over the alternatives.
I'm finding it very refreshing to find these videos less and less "familiar" to my personal situation...
But I'm not raising a luddite. My son LOVES tech, but he also loves dirt. He would prefer to do physical stuff rather than digital...
