Cool idea, but I don't want to cut a square hole in my bumper.

I mounted a class 3 hitch for an SUV I bought at Walmart and it worked just fine since my bike rack and cargo carrier needed 2 inch receivers. I had a class 1 hitch before but needed the 1.25" to 2" adaptor which made the cargo carrier stick out too far and scrape when going into gas stations.

Here is the link to my install
https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum4/HTML/071634.html

I flipped the hitch upside down for ground clearance but for less than a $100 I had a hitch that worked just fine.

Btw if you do not have access to a lift remove the bumper cover and your install time will be much shorter and a lot easier since you will have easy access to the frame.
