Good afternoon folks. I just took delivery of an 87 GT that's going to need some work. I know I will need pipes from radiator to engine, driver side is hanging with about a 60 degree bend in it. Anyone sell these, and if so what is the technical name for them.

I haven't had a Fiero since 1987 when life made me get rid of my 85 GT, so I'm going to be coming here picking brains.

Thanks from North Carolina

coolant pipes, coolant tubes.. You can cut and splice what you have (with hoses), or find another set. The 88 tubes are different and will not work on your 87.

IIRC those coolant pipes are a special size and made from stainless steel. They can probably be duplicated by an exhaust shop that has bending and forming equipment. I would not advise cutting the bends and sectioning them with rubber hoses and clamps. Without the ridges on the cut sides the hoses will slip off.

As Gall said the 88 pipes are different but also the pipes differ between the 4 cylinder and v6. The pipes are a mild stainless and a decent welder could cut out the bent portion and weld in a new piece.

Rodney Dickman (rodneydickman.com) has some products to help repair bent pipes but not full replacements.

A friend of mine brought his damaged cooling pipes to a welder and he welded in new sections where the dents were. Price was around $190 that IMO was a high price. When fixing those pipes and sectioning a part, you need a perfect weld. If you don't achieve that the pipes will leak or won't last.
