The blacklight shows some green leak tracing dye in the enclosure, so the evaporator is suspect.
Are the evaporators available anywhere? I don't see them on Rock Auto, so that doesn't bode well...
Is a connection the more likely leak point?

The fittings are always suspect first. The o-rings are old and fail. But, if the dye is showing inside the box/core area there are no fittings inside, it would take a leaking core (not super common).

GM part no 3054185, ac delco 15-6398.
Discontinued and a quick google search did not find anything. 85-88 are different so you need an 84 specific one. Best options are the mall on here or try to get your existing one repaired.

Anything I might say is probably worth what you paid for it, so treat it accordingly!

The a/c evaporator should be the same on all years. Unfortunately it (and the a/c condenser) have become a commodity and you will not find it new at parts stores. The only sources for them are salvage yards, eBay (nos, used), and just recently Fiero Fiberglass started selling new reproductions (although they are $315).

I just went through this same ordeal with our 88 coupe. Luckily I found an 87 at my salvage yard and pulled the evaporator (cost me $28). Like Electrathon said, they are a rare failure item so used is still a safe bet.

"Fiero Fiberglass" has both the condenser and the evaporator. Not sure if they would fit an '84

Thanks for all the replies, guys! I didn't find any suppliers online last year, but now there are, as noted above, and below:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/84-...UXl&vxp=mtr#shpCntId

If I pick it up at a Niagara Falls NY mailbox service, it's likely to be about $500 Canadian with the current exchange rate and 13% HST.
Commercial shipping to my residence would likely add another $100 or more...

I wonder if the joints between the radiator and the inlet and outlet tubes might fail. Maybe a little aluminum weld would fix that...
If a radiator core tube has failed, it might be wiser to get a new evaporator since it's claimed to be R134 compatible (at the higher pressure).
