Hi guys, after a lot of hassle i bought a camaro 1994 3.4 pushrod engine complete which i intend to run with a 7730 ecm with DIS.

Now the question and i did read the entire forum. Are there any good upgrades on this engine. I have a truleo intake and truleo exhaust, 19 lb injectors and the FS stainless steel valves. I will pick up the engine next week and than i will begin. Should i also use the fiero heads or the camaro heads? Any info is really appreciated guys.

a really good power adder for the 3.4 is the Vortec V-5 supercharger. its vortecs smallest supercharger and can be mounted where the AC compressor is. its capable of 14psi boost but with the 3.4 you dont really need more than 5 to 7 psi to get that kick in the seat of your pants power. their a little cheaper and easier to maintain than a turbo charger and no drilling of the oilpan and such. yet a good self contained system it wont get the preformance you can get out of a turbo.
heres one on ebay. V-5 Vortec

You already have good upgrades for the intake and exhaust. There is no difference between Fiero 2.8 heads and the Camaro 3.4 heads. The Fiero rear head already has the coolant temp sender (temp gauge) in the correct place whereas the Camaro rear head will have to have a plug removed and the sender installed. I would used which ever are in better shape.

To be fair, you probably did not read the entire forum... There are a lot of threads here on modifying iron head engines... there is a search button underneath the 'New Topic' and 'Post Reply' buttons up at the top of the page. Make sure that when you search, you select 'Entire Forum + Archives' as well as noting whether you are searching Subject/Username or Entire Threads. I find that while searching entire threads will return more results, using the Subject/Username will return more usable results.

You can also use Google to search by putting 'site:fiero.nl' in your search terms. Google is much better at context searching than the built in forum search.

By just putting 3.4 PR in the forum's search function, it returns 70 links to threads about pistons, cams, ecms, clutches, etc...

You can also look on the ThirdGen.org V6 F-body forums, there are good resources there as well.

The Fiero V6 and 3.4 V6 use the same heads. Seriously, they're identical. So I guess use whichever heads are in better condition. You didn't list a camshaft, but IMO that should be on your to-do list. The Crane H272 or something similar will add some pep without making it undriveable. And to go with that cam, you'll need aftermarket springs. The Comp Cams #980 (or equivalent) should cover that. I would also suggest having some port work done on the valve bowls in the heads, if possible. The iron heads can use all the help they can get.

That said, IMO the best upgrade for a 3.4 V6 would be to swap on the top end from a 3400 or 3500, with 3400 pistons. Selling your Trueleo intake should cover most of the cost for that.

Hi guys, thanks for the input. Cam, rockers, springs are just 3.4 camaro stock. The 3400 or 3500 are now where to be seen here

What would switching the stock cam to the crane 272 give extra as in horsepower? I saw i few guys put in the aluminium body 1:6 rockers with double springs. Will that do any good? I dont want to spent 1000 bucks for 10 horses extra.

The H272 cam and a higher flowing intake and exhaust + 9.2:1 compression had put down 200rwhp in a Fiero.
A plain 3.4 with no mods puts down 135 rwhp. See Oreif's 2 3.4 + 272cam motors for reference...
