I have an 88 formula I put the overlays on about 8 years ago. Thought they looked great at the time, but i didn't position them perfectly over the numbers and at night I had a double image. it was okay, but i got tired of them and removed them recently.
Yeah these are just overlays. In addition to having to install them near perfectly you have to also know that the gauge overlay itself will not be lighting up. It'll still be relying on the bulb power in the cluster.
If you want a more proper white face gauge setup with the numbers and indicators actually lighting up, you need to obtain a set of gauge overlays that are hardwired and attach over the stock faces. I have these type in my GT, and they are wired to the dimmer switch. Instead of this kind of awkward lighting like the pictures in the Amazon store show, I have the proper blue lit numbers and indicators with white faces during the day. This type setup would cost you more though, in addition to having to know how to wire everything up properly.
I had a '95 nissan 240 sx (before it was stolen and trashed) that had factory white gauges and they were so cool. the face would be white at daytime with black numbers and when it was night it was a black face with white numbers. so cool . I guess im passing on these gauge decals.

I actually have a pair of these myself though they have yet to make it onto the car. Going to replace what I hope is a faulty tach, replace the bulbs and clean the gauges up all at the same time. If I can make time for it anytime soon, I'll let you know how it works out. - ALSO, if you order the overlays, make sure to specify that you have the backlight gauges (if you do). they originally sent me the front light ones.. they were pretty cool about fixing the issue though.
Took my 88 Fiero GT to a mechanic to have the white gauge covers installed, he didn't get them lined up exactly right and I get the double image, also hard to see at night. but worst of all now my water temp and gas gauge do not work also my rear deck remote doesn't work.. He said my printed circuit needed replaced, got an replacement, but it made no difference, still doesn't work. any suggestions? (The water temp and gas gauge are only a year old.)
If you can spare the extra cash, Speedhut does sell the Fiero glow gauge faces again. They are a little more pricey at $90 but they glow and look very nice. http://www.speedhut.com/eco...-Fiero-custom-dials-

this is one of those if your going to do it. do it right with speed hut gauges and get the reflective florescent paint for your needles. total i have into mine is around $160 now with new light bulbs too but i am happier for it.
