I need to replace the IAC on a '88GT. Is there a recommended high quality brand that is most often used by forum members? Thanks.

I've been lookin at them for my 85 GT. I like rock auto.com I saw them for $15 on eBay but it ships from china and although many parts might be made in china, it'll take a long time to ship from china. I would go with "standard" brand but don't take my word because although I am deem standard to be a quality brand, I have no experience in changing the IAC. A freind told me to remove clean and replace mine and it should stop the idle hunting. Just been too damn cold to do anything out there!

IACs rarely go bad. If you are replacing it because of a high idle most likely the problem is a leaking EGR tube.

There hardly is such a thing as 'high quality' aftermarket electronic parts in the automotive industry, especially when it comes to older applications. If it isn't ACDelco, Denso, Delphi or some other OE part it always leaves a bad feeling in the back of my mind.

Mind you, even seemingly quality manufacturers like Bosch sell crap electronic parts now. Also, keep a wary eye on anything labeled with ACDelco 'Advantage' parts.

But you gotta do with what you can get. Sigh.

I purchased a BWD iac a few weeks ago thinking my original was bad. It was about $50. PM me if you would like it, I could do half price.

+1

I would check the EGR tube also before you go paying for an IAC.

Thanks for your responses. It appears I will be checking the EGR as suggested. Joe, thanks for the offer of the BWD IAC, but I found one locally.
