Stock Fiero wiring has the data on pin E. The 7730 was wired for the data to be on pin M.

Pin E data is unidirectional and at 160 baud. Pin M data is bidirectional and at 8192 baud.

If your diagnostic cable is an ALDL to serial cable it is most likely wired to only support pin E data and will not work with the 7730. This includes if you move the terminal from pin E to pin M since the serial cables are usualy built only to support unidirectional data.

If your diagnostic cable is an ALDL to USB cable then it most likely will support both pin E and pin M data.

TunerPro RT supports both the stock Fiero ECMs and the 7730 ECM. It is the best OBD1/ALDL scanner software available. If you don't have it or you need the proper .ADX files for the 7730 go to the page where I sell the cables and download my install disk at the bottom of the page. The disk includes the free version of TunerPro RT, the most complete sorted collection of .ADX files and drivers that work on all USB to ALDL cables, mine or others cables.

Also if you do need a USB to ALDL OBD1 diagnostic cable I sell them on the page.

I didn't know TP RT supports the old ecm...just used winaldl for it.

Anyway, if you are a diy type guy, you can make a 2 transistor circuit and it will work just fine with the 7730. 2 Nice things about the 7730:

1) Way faster data rate
2) No resistor needed. I feel the old ecm with the 10k installed (ALDL mode) changed the way the engine runs....crappy for tuning...not so with the 7730!

2 trans cct:
