I have 2 cars that need tilt column replacement, a 1985 SE, & 1986 GT. The '85SE does not currently have Cruise control and I want to add it. On the '86GT the plastic from the tilt adjustment lever is off and the turn signal is missing. I currently have tilt columns from 1988 SE and a 1987 GT parts cars that I have stripped. Will either be a direct replacement for both cars?

Most column parts are same... www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/088020-3.html#p111

Cruise is just a lever swap IF has same wiper switch.

Thanks, I thought that might be the case. I thought I had a bookmark to a site that had all of the parts that were interchangeable on the different years of Fiero's, and parts you could get from other cars but I can not seem to find it. I also PM'ed JAZZMANN for his write up.

Thanks again

Jazzman has been banned so he's not going to receive your PM.

I can tell you don't be daunted by potentially disassembling the tilt column. I completely disassembled mine, rebuilt it, and works great, and it was my first time doing it. Cost $15 to rebuild, and with one disassembled you can easily add and swap whatever components for what you need (cruise, no cruise, etc).

I have torn down 2 cars so far, 1987 that was complete, and a 1988 without an engine or transmission. I have the GM service manual and Chiltons for every year of Fiero's made. I just like to get the personal write-ups also.
