Come on Ray, you know that Florida has gotten significantly better since it's been under Republican governorship.
When I moved here in 1996, we had safety and emissions inspection laws which dramatically affected the poor. It not only cost you money to get your car inspected (like ~$35 back in 1996), but if you failed, you also got fined, then had to get your car fixed ($$$), and THEN had to get it re-inspected again. Those poor painters, carpenters, service jobs, and other trades with people cruising around in old Monte Carlos and Chevy Celebrities... these people were hurting. The very lower-income people they were promising to help, were the very ones they were hurting.
Yes, Florida has doubled / tripled it's population since then... but there's nothing you can do to stop that, other than running the state into the ground so no one wants to move there.
The Republicans came in and made substantial land-grabs for environmental protection, as well as reducing the chemical run-off from the sugar cane farms.
Yes, there's tons of very misleading articles out there claiming how bad Rick Scott's environmental record is... but the reality is, the Democrats allowed chemical runoff from the sugarcane farms for 50+ years, and did nothing for land preservation. Literally nothing. The Republicans do quite a bit, and suddenly it's the most important issue for Democrats, but they never seemed to care before a Republican was in office.
The ports, the beaches, they're all safer, cleaner, and completely renovated.
Yes, I'm not thrilled with the fact that we now have 10s of millions of more people living here, and I also don't like that you can't just park right on the side of the road in Jupiter, or right on the street in Fort Lauderdale (that parking all seems to be gone now)... but crime has gone down 50% despite the fact that we've more than doubled our population.
When I moved here in 1996, the KKK had their southern headquarters in Davie, and the place was a Democrat stronghold. Now, the KKK is long-gone, and we're leading the country in tech and medical industry growth.
