Hey guys, once again... thank you for allowing me to post these here. My daughter makes progress on restoring the front compartment... replaces a bunch of things, and upgrades to the larger washer tank.

Gosh this brings me back to the start of my project, on the safety side when I did mine I used a respirator and safety glasses. Sorry if I missed that in the video.

Otherwise yes lots of hours on the wire wheel, cleaning up afterwards, good video.

She used goggles to protect her eyes when she was using the wire wheel (actually mentions that the wires can dislodge from the wheel and fly off into your face).

But she wasn't wearing a respirator. The garage doors are open and we have a fan when she paints (you can usually hear the fan running in the background). But yeah, it wasn't too bad. The front suspension is going to be bad though... it's covered in surface rust... and she's going to need to spend a lot of time sanding the front chassis down.

honestly pull the parts apart and sent to powdercoater. They have commercial equipment that will get it done faster and better than having dust dirt and debrit all over your garage.... or invest in a blast booth put it outside and go to town. Dont run a blast booth in your garage.... i am still finding sand everywhere from mine 10 years later

Yeah, makes perfect sense.

Other than the financial aspect of it, which she's aware... I'm trying to help her understand, to a degree, the value of hard work. When I was 18-19... I for sure didn't have any of that stuff. Almost everything I had for tools could fit in the trunk of my Fiero. So, I'm kind of trying to get her to understand how to do things without a well stocked garage. There's some areas of course where you just can't skip... like using a torque wrench where it counts, and having to send stuff to a machine shop.

I don't want to make it too easy for her... but I have mentioned it to her that for cleaning a lot of these parts, a blast cabinet would simplify this job. Shoot, Harbor Freight even sells big ones that can do control arms and all kinds of stuff for cheap.
