It's not actually mine, but I have access to the latest model Mac mini and I will be using it. We're just getting it set up. And here's the first thing that I can't figure out. I have looked for an answer on line, and looked directly at it with my own eyes, and looked at the few pages of instructions that were packed with it, but I still don't know what that is.

On the right side of the front panel, the LED power indicator, so small that it is barely visible in this picture, and there, right next to the LED, is the larger, round, black "dot"--what is that, please? I touched it. I don't think it is a switch, but if it is a switch, I don't want to activate it without knowing what it does.

Is it just a cosmetic element? But it's not shaped like the Apple logo, so if that's what it is, I just don't "get" it.

Thanks if you can tell me what that is.

I bet IR sensor for remote control. The little hole next to it is the 'power/sleep' light. My old G4 doesnt have the bigger one.

On the touch that was just to allow the antennas to not be covered with metal, it didn't have IR.

My G4 mini had several places under the plastic lid that had the metal support removed to allow signals to get in/out.

My friend just got one of those, and I was surprised to see the same technology featured from 5+ years ago like my MacBook:

They just make the paint a little more glossy, add half gig more ram and call it the all new Apple for a 1000 bucks more.
