It seems some are finally getting tired of the Westboro show....
quote
A member of the infamous Westboro Baptist Church was tackled on Saturday by an angry soldier at a funeral for fallen Army Staff Sgt. Donna Johnson in North Carolina.
“So at the funeral today for Fallen Soldier Sgt. Johnson a Westboro member decided it would be smart to stomp on the American flag,” the blog Guardian of Valor explained. “A Soldier did not take kindly to that and broke through the line, hitting one of the protesters that was disgracing Old Glory. As he was being arrested, two other Soldiers rescued the flag.”
The Westboro Baptist Church believes that God is punishing the United States because of America’s acceptance of homosexuality, and has gained infamy for picketing the funerals of public figures and military members.
Johnson, 26, was killed by a suicide bomber in Afghanistan.
Hundreds of Patriot Guard Riders and others formed a line between the Westboro Baptist Church members and the funeral service.
The Westboro Baptist Church, which only has a few dozen members, is typically drowned out by counter protesters. The biker activist group Patriot Guard Riders has dedicate itself to doing just that.
Johnson’s wife, Tracy Dice, also serves in the military.
While I support the soldiers' actions, sadly that's exactly what WBC wants. They'll be bringing a civil suit against him before long. That's how they make money. I would also gladly support any legal defense fund should that happen.

They aren't Christians; their actions are reprehensible. I am surprised that their entire group of protesters has not, what is the word I want, gotten what they deserved for desecrating the flag and protesting these funerals. I would be happy to serve on that civil suit jury.

911 was an inside job, you have to be a fool to join the army now, Not when our so called leaders are making billions off a war they started. This war is a fraud.
we wouldn't be trillions in debt if some pricks kept his greedy hands out of the middle east

What does that have to do with westboro?

Yes, I agree that Westboro is not doing God's work by any means, and most of you guys know that I'm very serious about my faith....
Personally, I doubt Phelps is truly saved... he'll stand before Jesus someday and will get his "I never knew you, depart from me" from the Lord.
The problem is, they're mixing the work of the Old Testament prophets with the work of the New Testament church... you can basically see it in their actions.
The guy commuted a crime ( assault and battery ) and should be rotting in jail. Free-speech is a right. Period. Don't like what is being said, your right is to leave or say what you wish to say. A physical attack to infringe on another person's right should not be tolerated, at all.
Too bad he didn't try to tackle me for exercising my rights. He would be going home in a box.
EDIt: oh, and the others should be in jail for theft. "Rescue" my ass. It was theft.
And no i don't support the 'church' and think they are a bunch of fools, but they have the right to do what they are doing. The moron who attacked, does not have that right and the law must be upheld.

Its all a bunch of crap anyway so who cares what version they choose to follow?
Their belief is just as valid as yours.

I think you should have your meds checked, they are not working
If some ass hat was acting up at a funeral of one of my relatives the last thing on my mind would be their right to free speech. Besides this is no different to me then yelling fire in a packed hall of people. Do that and see who goes to jail. They are inciting a riot and that isn't free speech.

They did not yell fire in a packed hall of people. They committed *no crime*. Anyone who says it was ok for him to pound the legally abiding citizen deserves no rights themselves.
Has nothing to do with me ( tho i do admit that i'm sick and tired of the fake Americans and their hypocrisy ). it has to do with the crime that was committed on an honest citizen. This isn't the UK so being offensive is not yet against the law here, so deal with it.

WBC shows no patriotism. The soldier risked his life for his/our country. He deserves to kick a little ass when someone disrespects what he fought for........so deal with it.

Show me the law that requires patriotism.
The prick that took the law into his own hands deserves to be permanently removed from society for breaking the law and harming another person in the process.
Yes he fought to protect the right of the baptist idiot's free speech. If he cant accept that then hes not worthy of any honor and is a hypocrite. "its only free speech if i like it " is total bs. A lot of Americans say things i don't like either, and i have fought for their right to do it and continue to support them. You don't see me claiming they cant say it because i disagree with it. Instead i exercise my rights and call them a moron.

Wait, wait......he excersised his right of free speech........by puttin' a whoopin' on the idiot protester. They picked the wrong place and wrong time as usual. Should he pay for what he did? If need be. I'll gladly contribute to his defense.
Permanently removed from society? Wow! Bit extreme. We're all hypocrites at one time or another.

And that is your choice on how you'd handle things. Funerals are emotional times. I don't think you'd just sit back and call someone a "moron" for purposely heating up an already emotional situation of a close friend or relative of yours.

Assault and Battery is not free speech, and you know it.
We aren't talking about someone stealing a ipod or something, and i firmly believe that anyone that harms another person in a crime they should be removed from society permanently as they have forfeited their right of life. No tolerance.

Yes i would. I value free speech and actually understand what it means to have it. ( ok, i might flip them off too, but you get the point, i wouldn't walk over and punch them in the face. )
Besides, emotions are for the weak.

I agree with Nurb, for the most part. I don't think they should be really rotting in jail. Tackling someone shouldn't result in a very long sentence. Also, taking the flag away doesn't result in any sentence. Pretty sure that's a fine (flags aren't expensive).
But they have their right to free speech, which should be protected by all.
I wouldn't weep over them getting in an accident though.
To be honest, I'm surprised nobody has followed them home where there isn't a huge police presence protecting them, and done something... worse. I'm glad that hasn't happened, but also surprised.

It will be free speech (for me and I'm sure for a few others here) if someone gets physical.
If its physical its not speech. And I'm not talking about protecting yourself as wrong, I'm talking throwing the first punch as being wrong. No matter how offensive he was in what he was saying, the baptist dude had every right to waste the attacker. And should have.

I never said perfect. I just don't believe in grey. Grey is for people trying to make excuses.
EDIT: Seems my red bar has increased, gotta love hypocrites. What they say is ok, but don't disagree with them. And I'm almost ashamed to have most of them call themselves fellow Americans. They dont deserve the title.

I despise what these morons do, but I agree with Nurb. Freedom Of Speech wasn't invented for what we want to hear, it was invented for what we don't want to hear.
Nurb is right.

Ain't it tyhe truth. I have heard MANY here go on and on about American pride in the rules that got us here. Except when..........when whatever happens that they don't like.
These rules wern't made for the best of times, they were made for the worst of times.

They protest to get people upset.......that's it. "Waste the attacker".......they came there to start trouble and found it. They started it. They threw the gas on and lit it and they're in the right? Ooooookay.

Ok, we go your route and we stop them from talking because you dont like what they say. I dont like what you say so you are banned from speech. The guy over there doesn't like it when the boy scouts speak so they are silenced. Oh, i dont like what the democrats say as it offends me. Wipe them off too... Where does it stop? No, everyone gets their say or no one does. Rights are absolute.
Has the world gotten used to tuckin' their tail and runnin' ? Who stands up anymore?
Well, i'm standing up for that church group ( and my ) right to speak ( and not be physically attacked for it ). I happen to dislike what they are saying, but ill defend their right to say it.

I didn't say what they do is right, I just say it is their right. I'm not supporting them, i'm supporting this country and what it stands for. And The Rule Of Law.
