Or, if you're like me and only have 1 computer, you read ALOT and take ALOT of small steps. To me, the hardware is so simple, it's the software I have trouble with. I just got into computer hardware about a month ago and started reading about it from day 1 and I read no less than 2 hours of whatever random stuff I can find on the interwebs a day. I also go to sites like newegg and tiger direct and read alot of product info and specs they have posted, as well as C/Net forums. It's the same with my Fiero. I do a ton of research and reading every day before I turn 1 screw to do what I want to do.

Ok, for the ignorant out there,(me) what exactly, do those numbers mean?
3DMark06 is a benchmarking program. It stress tests your graphics processing power. It then gives you a score based on how well your computer handled the stress it was given, which you can compare against others with simular systems. Or you can use it to measure how much improvement you have made to your computer when you install or tweek a new videocard.
Hey! You guys might know this better than me... Whats a good 3D FX card to get??? I wanna play games like Enemy Territory, Call of duty, stuff like that. Any advice would be awesome! Thanks!

You mean just a videocard, or a 3-D videocard? How much you wanna spend? What are your system specs?

How old is your computer? Is it AGP or PCI-E? You will need to find these thing out first.
P.S. Anyone who ever wants to shop online, but don't have Paypal or a creditcard, you can buy a Visa gift card at a grocery store, register it online with Visa, and then use it just like a creditcard online!

I can vouch for that, as it is something I have done numerous times. I usually keep a prepaid Visa/MC with money on it in case of emergency, but I gave up on it when they started introducing insane 'service' and 'storage' fees. Yup, you read that right, a prepaid Visa I had a while back actually had a storage fee that kicked in after 30 days of inactivity, and an additional service fee that kicked in after 6 months regardless of how much money was on it, or how often it was used. Now I only buy them when I need them. And after you register it, you have the option of having a real, plastic card mailed to you that you can use just like a real CC anyplace Visa/MC is accepted.

How much you want for one of your 8800GT's? I need another one. I could finally have SLI.
I need to migrate them down into my other systems. Mine are the 8800 GT Superclocked's and I love them. They sometimes got the Superclocks on Ebay still. I would not let mine go for less then $150 a piece.

hehe. That's what my one is. It's a XFX XXX Edition. I keep hawking ebay but I never find a deal that really strikes me. If you find one in the $100 range that looks good and happen to remember, shoot me a PM or something.

Old Videocards Benchmarks: ................................................... Single 8800 Superclocked - 12,557 Dual 8800 Superclocked - 17,320 ...................................................
New Videocards Benchmarks: ................................................... Single GTX-275 Superclocked - 16,103 Dual GTX-275 Superclocked - 18,190 ...................................................
I don't like that score at all. I should have FAR greater improvement then that. Time to find out why.......................<IMG src="http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/spezial/Fool/bur2.gif">
