My wife has mentioned that place before. Kinda scary name for a food joint. "In 'N Out"......does that mean that the burgers come out as fast as they go in?(send you to the toilet)

We don't have an in-n-out here, but we do have a Fuddruckers. I wonder what it will be called, in a few hundred years, with people like Neptune reproducing.

When I was in California last year, I stopped at in and out. I wasn't that impressed with the burgers. Five Guys opened up in a new shopping center near me, again I wasn't impressed with the burger and the soggy fries was a downer. I've been to Fuddruckers a few times. They have lots of condements but too pricey for a burger. Five Guys is anther pricey burger. I'm getting cheap in my old age. I also can make a better burger at home and use my Forman Grill to cook it.

All of those are way too expensive. No value whatsoever.

I loved In and Out Burger when I was in Cali, and they were located right next to a movie theater. It was nice having a gf who was more then happy with In-n-Out and a movie as a night out.
I like Red Robin too.
There was a place in Burlingame, CA (I think) called Max's. I really liked the food there and kept seeing one here in NJ but would never seem to get over to it. One day we set out to find it and couldn't. It was so weird because I know I saw it here somewhere, we drove around for hours literally just to end up where we started and find out it was replaced by a placed called Bonefish.

The wife and I stopped in at a Five Guys that just opened here. I thought the burger was good. The fries....well I watched over the counter and noted how they looked. I asked them to please make ours extra well done. They came out crispy, dark and tasty...still pretty greasy, but that's ok once in awhile.
THE BEST bacon cheeseburger, (my absolute favorite burger), I've ever had *anywhere* is at Smitty's in St. Petersburg, FL. Hand pattied thick, then char-grilled, (not fried on a flat steel plate). The bacon is crispy, thick and plentiful on the burger. The cheese is melted nicely, (not until it is a goo). The bun is always nicely toasted. Served with a pile of old fashioned crinkle-cut french fries that are deep fried nice and crispy light brown and not at all greasy or oily. Served to your table on an old fashioned white china platter, along with a big bottle of Heinz catsup and a jar of French's mustard, (never a plastic squeeze bottle) Simple, traditional and GOOD

My only gripe with In and Out is that it is usually crowded with non-locals. It is a microcosm of what iswrong with California, it is being ruined by crowds of people from somewhere else that want a "California Experience", then piss and moan when the system gets overloaded. Stay home and eat your Whataburger or Roy Rogers. Leave In and Out (and California) to the Californians.

True about the local thing. We are the first in-n-out in california when coming from reno. It gets packed on fridays and sundays. Friday nights are the worse. There is speedway racing every friday also. When it ends everyone heads to in n out and the wait is about 15min.

Funny, we have the same reaction to California transplants moving to Arizona
And c'mon, for years California has been promoting the hell out of the tourism industry, and the state (not to mention the local businesses) make a lot of money from those you're telling to stay home.

I am confused now, why do people leave California for Arizona of all places?
We just got 3 Sonics within a 10 miles radius, and every day/all day they have a line that goes out the parking lot and down the side of the highway and actually have a town police offer on duty to direct the idiots who can't drive.
I have been to Sonic before (when I was in Texas) and I liked it, but it wasn't anything I was crazy about. So we went just to experience it again, and it still was nothing special and the prices did seem a bit high for sit in your car fast food.

Never was impressed with Sonic burgers, but the breakfast burritos rock. I don't know if I would trade our InO for a Sonic, but I sure wouldn't mind having one locally.

Lower real estate prices, lower cost of living, lower taxation rate, much less restrictive gun laws, and less crowding are all common reasons I've heard. A lot of the states that border California have had a large influx of ex-California residents in recent years.

While traveling outside CA, I never saw a "In 'N Out" burger joint, but their hambugers isn't all that great and IMO are a notch above Micky' Ds, but Micky's Ds has better fries---- hands down! I prefer Steak 'N Shake while traveling in IL.

Here's the Bible verse decoder for In-and-out Burger:
Burger and cheeseburger wrappers Revelation 3:20—"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will dine with him, and he with Me."
Beverage cups and replicas John 3:16—"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
Milkshake cups Proverbs 3:5—"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding."
Double-Double wrapper Nahum 1:7—"The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him."
Paper water cups (no longer in use) for customers. They are now used for thirsty employees. John 14:6—"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

Gladly. Never been to a Roy Rogers---is it an Okie thing? I always thought "In-n-Out was just another term for intercourse. Does In-n-Out take IOUs?
