In what appears to be a suicide, David Carradine was found dead, hanging in a closet in his hotel room in Bangkok.
http://news.xinhuanet.com/e...content_11488667.htm

Poor man, I have to wonder if it was Suicide or murder. I have found no mention yet of him having any illness. David Carradine was 73.

RIP David.

I was just talking to Jay Link, lead singer for Death and Taxes, he and I both doubt Suicide.
I am waiting to hear back from Kirstie Alley as to if he had been sick. She was good friends with him.

Ok well she went offline, so it may be a while before I hear anything.

One night in Bangkok makes a hard man humble
Not much between despair and ecstasy
One night in Bangkok and the tough guys tumble
Can't be too careful with your company
I can feel the devil walking next to me

I know I'm not the only one who thought of that. Sucks I always liked the roles he played.

That was both hilarious and utterly tasteless at the same time. I love it.

I liked Carradine, except for that gawd-awful new Kung-Fu series set in modern-day California.

Some day I'm going to get myself a birthday present of the entire Kung-Fu series on DVD...

I remember watching the original Kung Fu show on TV back in the 1970's. I always enjoyed the flashbacks to the exchanges between the blind Master Po and young Caine...

quote

Master Po: Close your eyes. What do you hear?
Young Caine: I hear the water, I hear the birds.
Po: Do you hear your own heartbeat?
Caine: No.
Po: Do you hear the grasshopper that is at your feet?
Caine: Old man, how is it that you hear these things?
Po: Young man, how is it that you do not?

But seeing how this is a car forum, I suppose David Carradine may well be better remembered here for other roles...

RIP David.

Well as far as anyone knows, he was not sick. HE was in the middle of filming movie called stretch and looking forward to doing yet another movie after this one.
The police say there was no signs of assault, but it does not add up. I will be curious to see how this turns out.

Auto-erotic asphixiation. The BBC reported that a "rope was around his neck and genitals." Apparently in the name of good taste, that has been edited to "other body parts".

If that was the case, he would not have used the cord from the drapes. Most folks I read about who are into that, have their own gear that they use and trust.
Just does not seem to fit quite right.

I tend to agree. Wouldn't want to rely on the hotel room you are going to spend the night in having what you need. It may end up being the case but its odd. Perhaps it was a 'spur of the moment' 'lets try this' idea and someone else was with him, then bailed when things went wrong.

I've been a "spotter" while someone has been lifting weights, but sorry, I draw the line at performing that duty while some dude is jerking off hanging from the ceiling!

so you already spend hours with other men in (tight or no clothing) standing over them while they lifting heavy stuff, grunting and groaning, getting all sweaty.....and then showering most likely afterward. It's only a matter of time Patrick

j/k

I always like Carradine, I was really to young for the Kung Fu series, but I saw a few movies, the one I always loved was Lone Wolf McQuade.

Heh heh. Not to ruin your imagery, but I'm afraid my "spotting" only occurred on the rare occasion years ago while working out when I was standing by to possibly help prevent someone from being pinned under a heavy weight while they were doing a bench press. Not a rope in sight.

The only update is that no one who knew him believes it to be Suicide. Apparently he was VERY happy to be filming this movie in Bangkok.
The news reports now say it may have been an accident.

I chat with some of her friends on Twitter, and from time to time her as well. However, she never said another word on the subject. Once the bit came out about him being naked and hanging, no one really said much else.

Did you know she was dating Jamie Foxx??

Interesting --till you said the underlined part. Un-neccessary to use such language. And, Carradine was not of Asian descent.

Carradine was born in Hollywood, California, the son of Ardanelle Abigail (née McCool; 1911-1989)[6] and noted American actor John Carradine.[7] He was the half-brother of Bruce, Keith and Robert Carradine, as well as the uncle of Ever Carradine and Martha Plimpton. Carradine had Irish, English, Scottish, Welsh, German, Spanish, Italian, Ukrainian and Cherokee ancestry.[8] Carradine attended Oakland Junior College[1] and later studied drama at San Francisco State College[1] before working as an actor on stage and in television and cinema. He changed his given name to David after starting his career.

First as already pointed out he was an American with various ethnic backgrounds... and more importantly, your comments are very inappropriate. What is a "chink" anyway?

Topcat--that is an ethnic slur that increased in usage during the Korean War to refer to Chinese Communists--and has since 'evolved' to refer to anyone of Asian descent. Not sure where it started.

Soon as I read it I thought of Michael Hutchence of INXS and his death.
Sure enough I found the same online.

I thought it was from the use of Chinese cheap immigrant labor building brick buildings. The cement between the bricks is chinking, also used in some log home building techniques.

Edit to add. Bruse lee was originaly supposed to star in Kung Fu.

The FBI have been brought into the investigation. The THAI police apparently left out the fact that his wrists were bound at the time of his death, plus there was a footprint on his bed that did not match any of his shoes and a few other things. So no, it looks like he was murdered.

Everyone who knew him has said the same thing, there is no way it was suicide and this new evidence seems to suggest something more seedy.

Well, Bankok was never the safest place in the world for sure. You could lose your wristwatch or your life in the blink of an eye 38 yrs ago. It was bad enough then, that I stayed on the US compound and got a hop over to Korat where things were better.
