Yes they were, but on a 50 Year old car, things tend to get changed a bit. Kinda like , hmmmm say putting a V8 into a Fiero, you know... Some people make a stink about painting some of the old chrome, but I never heard someone complain that the old 283 is missing....

Well, that's because the 327 still looks like a 283.

Apples and oranges...

Are you suggesting that a dressed up 327 looks different than a dressed up 283 does? If so, I beg to differ.

Hey, I like your car, but us old farts like the chrome where it was meant to go.

All I am saying is that there is little left on my car that is stock, and that I think its funny that people (old farts....usually, you got that part) tell me that painted bumpers don't belong....but the 327 does...the fuel cell does, the 6 speed does, the drop spindles do.......
I mean, OBVIOUSLY if I wanted stock I would have built it that way!

I hope you aren't interpreting any of my comments as half of an "argument". They weren't meant to be taken in such a manner.

Now go shoot some video of your car making some noise at WOT.

Hey man that is one badass car. Good for you for keeping one of the tri-fives alive !!! It matters not what's under the hood, it's that that car is on the road today that counts.

Now that is one sweeeeeeet ride. I am soooo jealous.

In that first vid I noticed that you were filming on the side of the highway. I was so expecting a car to come flying down the road and either a) run over your camera, or b)Come flying down the road and rip your door off the hinges.

Must not be a very busy highway.

It just happens all the time that someone makes a crack about the painted bumpers NOT being stock, when so little of my car is, it has become a cliche'. Like I said, if I wanted a stocker look, I would have gone that way.

What the hell is WOT?

Car guy yes....just don't follow the crowd...kinda like having painted bumpers....or spending $$ on a show Fiero...the old farts didn't get that either...

Or having a very limited production high MPG Pulse

or having a bagged, smoothed, amped 57 Wagon panel conversion

or an Lt1 Chop Top Fiero when there were only 3 Fiero Chops in the country....

What the fuk is your problem, man. I've been nothing but complementary to you about your car both here and in the old thread. Sorry if I didn't kiss your ass just because you've got a nice car.

If you’re that freakin’ insecure about comments about your friggen bumpers, maybe you should just hide the car in a garage so no one can see them. Chryst...

Oh sure, as long as no one dares to say ANYTHING you construe as possibly being negative.

You've stated you “don't follow the crowd”. That’s great, but you don't appear to have the balls to handle the occasional feedback that maybe doesn’t quite stroke your fragile ego the way you’d like.

If you read back to what I posted...I stated that things on a 50 year old car tend to change. I mentioned that old farts like you stated you are don't get what I like.
Wow man, all I asked was to see pics of your sweet rides. You don't have anything to hide do you? Let us all have a chance to give you some "feedback." Don't you have the "balls?"

..."sweet rides"

Could you be any more condescending if you tried?

Unlike you apparently, my self-worth isn’t tied to my cars. They’re nothing special. No one here would be interested in seeing them (unless you've got a thing for oxidized black paint on an '87 coupe).

Yes, I could me more condescending....absolutely, maybe I was being sincere, or are you just being rhetorical? Is it because your cars are 'nothing special' that you feel the need to take digs on mine? Did you feel it would hurt my "self-worth?" If so, that is just mean!
I am glad that you are proud of your 87, I am sure it had special meaning to you....kinda like my 57 is to me. Like I said...nobody criticizes the 420hp 327 that replaced the ~200hp stock 283, even though you say it looks the same....it isn't, even though you 'beg to differ.' The fact that 'old farts' go off on the bumpers actually says more about their self worth.....

Where the hell did I "take digs" at your car? Was it this thread? Was it when I asked GT Quick if he had noticed your bumpers? If so, that was only because he seemed to be uncertain as to whether or not you had painted “those two fins and pointers on the hood”. I thought that possibly he was a young guy and wasn’t aware that the bumpers (as well as the hood ornaments) were originally chrome on these old cars. If I knew you were so friggen sensitive about those gawd damn bumpers I wouldn't have said anything. Perhaps you should post some kind of a warning along with your pictures. Something along the lines of, "Please don't comment on the painted bumpers because if you do I'll wet myself."

How many times in both threads did I say I liked your car, yet all you can focus on is that most of the “old farts”, myself included, prefer chrome bumpers on cars that originally came with them. You think that because we’ve stated a preference that we can’t appreciate what you’ve done with this car? Well, you’re dead wrong.

Chryst, I can’t believe that someone whom I’ve told repeatedly that I like their car could be such a dink about this whole thing. I thought it was only necessary to avoid commenting on politics or religion to prevent having a fight here. I guess I'll now have to add friggen bumpers to the list...

When you say something like "I like your ________ , BUT ___________" it is a dig. Kinda like if you said to a kid, I like how you colored the picture, BUT you colored the tree the wrong color. What part of that statement do you think the kid will always remember?

You pointed out in a TWO year old thread that you didn't care for my painted bumpers....so why do you feel the need to bring it up again by writing "Did you check out the bumpers? " Was that not a dig, jab, crack, put down, cut....? Why the raised eyebrow then??

Because I found it amusing and surprising that GT Quick had noticed that the relatively small hood ornaments might've been painted, yet had possibly not noticed that the much larger (and much more obvious) bumpers had also been painted.

Look Joel, if you wish to remain convinced that I was somehow making fun of you and/or the car, that’s your business. Wallow in your misplaced indignation and stay pissed off at me, I don't care anymore. I think I’ve already wasted enough time here trying to convince you otherwise...

Somehow making fun of me??

Hmm...lets go back 2 years when you said:
"We should have a poll on those bumpers. Chrome or paint? I vote for chrome. (I still like the car a lot though!)"

I don't recall asking for a poll, nice I like your ______ BUT ________ statement though.

Then you said "If you want more of a "contemporary look", get a new Toyota!"

That is not making fun of me?

Then, today you said "Well, that's because the 327 still looks like a 283."

My point being that of all the things changed on the car, you pick on the bumpers....

Then, you crack on me saying "I though you were a car guy"

Obviously I am a car guy....I even know how to paint a car (bumpers and all) not let it oxidize.

THEN, you make another crack that I am "SORE" because of what you said two years ago..

If you look back at all I had written up to that point, I was just stating how I like my car the way it was. YOU pointed out how you went at me two years ago.

THEN you make comments that I have a fragile ego, or lack of 'balls"....all the while I had said nothing against you, just asked to see pictures of you cars, while asking, using YOUR terminology "You don't have anything to hide do you? Let us all have a chance to give you some "feedback." Don't you have the "balls?"

T H E N you claim that my self worth is tethered to my cars, while I said nothing of the sort.

If you were chosing NOT to make fun of me, why did you make all of these comments?? Why then did you even feel the need to post in a thread about a car that is not even yours. Believe me, I am more than qualified to answer any questions about it should they arise.

If you are "tired of convincing me otherwise" then you should not have spoken up in the first place. I beleive your comments were to antagonize me. I think my indignation is well placed.

Man oh man, you need to develop a sense of humour, Joel. You are one dry miserable SOB.

I promise to never post in a thread about a car of yours again. Perhaps no one should. That way you'll never again be offended. Why not take it a step further - Only enter your cars in shows were the public aren't allowed. Sounds like a plan, eh? Have fun...

Wait a minute!! The statement above is saying that you were NOT making fun of me, now you are saying I need to "develop a sense of humor." Isn't that a bit hypocritical??

As I pointed out, you had a go at me first. I am not offended, especially by someone like you that feels the need to slag off others ... IF you notice in my FIRST post I said "FUN STUFF."

As far as entering my car is NON public shows......why would I do that? Its always been fun to be around car guys and gear heads. I gave up winning first place trophies in my early 20's when I realized that its more fun just to show than to be judged. I am in it for the personal enjoyment of the hobbie. You should try it some time.

No, you NEED to develop a sense of humour to retain your own sanity. Painted bumpers or no painted bumpers, you're going to be one unhappy lad your entire life.

You don't even appreciate it when someone is just trying to give some friendly advice. I believe I'm done here...

No, having a sense of humour involves being able to laugh at oneself. You are much too insecure at this point in your life to handle such a foreign concept. Good luck with your progress, it'll be slow. Hope you have some real friends left by the time you're done.

Umm... maybe this is a bad time, but I'd be interested in seeing some more shots of your panel wagon.

Here is where you are wrong again you sanctimonious cretin..... I show some videos of my car and you feel the need, completely unsolcited to comment on it negatively, and how YOU don't like painted bumpers because that is NOT the way it was meant to be in the 50's, as if you felt like you opinion mattered to me. It is your insecurity that you feel I care the slightest what you think about MY car. I suppose your REAL friends appreciate how you tell them what they should do when they don't even ask. Score for you!
