1918-2007--Hasn't really hit me yet-I don't think. but it's coming. I & my 2 sisters were with him at the end, and it was hard, even tho we knew it was time.
I shall miss him so much--owe him so much. Just don't have the words right now.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, Don. I'm glad you were there at the end. I was with my 2 sisters with our father when he passed as well. Even years after, words to fully express what he meant and continues to mean to me fail me, but it was important to me that I was there.
May he rest in peace. God bless you all.

My condolences on your loss. Hope he felt he'd accomplished what he wanted while here. He left you and your loved ones to keep his memory alive... make them the happy memories.
Sorry to hear about your dad, Don. Sandi and I send our most sincere sympathies. I know how much he meant to you and that you moving there to be with him wasn't a chore to you, but something you felt in your heart you should do because he was your dad. Not many left like you.

Only a dad with a tired face, Coming home from the daily race, Bringing little of gold or fame To show how well he has played the game; But glad in his heart that his own rejoice To see him come and to hear his voice.
Only a dad with a brood of four, One of ten million men or more Plodding along in the daily strife, Bearing the whips and the scorns of life, With never a whimper of pain or hate, For the sake of those who at home await.
Only a dad, neither rich nor proud, Merely one of the surging crowd, Toiling, striving from day to day, Facing whatever may come his way, Silent whenever the harsh condemn, And bearing it all for the love of them.
Only a dad but he gives his all, To smooth the way for his children small, Doing with courage stern and grim The deeds that his father did for him. This is the line that for him I pen: Only a dad, but the best of men.
To Don with my condolences

Best wishes to you and your family, we had to go thru the same thing with losing my father this winter, on my birthday.
Remember him for what he was and what he did for you.

Don, My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. My sincerest condolences. Having recently lost my own father, I can appreciate the loss you are suffering. Take some comfort from knowing the time spent together was quality time and knowing that the vast majority of his decisions and actions were based in taking care of his family. Celebrate his life and ensure his memory continues on. Be strong for all of those surrounding this wonderful man. They will need your strength, lean on us if need be.

Don, my regrets. Words are failing me now also. I have thought of you recently as I have been solo being there for my Mom in Corpus. A true joy. I am happy that you were able to experience that joy with your Father. My best to you sir. PM at you.
