My 94 GMC Suburban has 4 wheel drive and it is made to be put in 4 wheel drive on the fly, I would imagine yours would be the same.

I had an 86 s-10 and it was on the fly also. As far as the chevy thing don't sweat it. I have owned 4 s-10's so far and I only hated one of them. I have a 2000 now and love it. I park it next to the ford mustang every night.

If it's push-button (which it shouldn't be) it can be put it 4x4 any time. The stick selector is a little trickier, but still simple. While driving, put it in neutral (some people keep it in Drive, but i'll switch to neutral for a moment) and pull the stick right back untill it pops into 4x4 mode, shift back into drive and just wait for the transfer case to do its thing!

Good Luck! Should be good, its a Chev!

does it have an owners manual? if not can you get one from a dealer or off the web?

i'd find out what the exact procedure is before using the 4x4. on my 96 explorer you can turn the switch to 4 wheel high at anytime. to turn it into 4x4 low you have to put it in neutral, turn it to 4x4 low, then put the shifter into drive. same way to get it out. if you switch it to regular drive without puting it in neatral it will stay in 4x4 low, which at hwy speeds isn't good.

just trying to save ya a tranny.

this new stuff beats the hell out of putting shifter in N, locking up hubs, dropping shifter on floor to 4 low, etc..if it was still like that nobody would use 4x4.

I've got a 94 S10 SS 4.3L. It's been a great little truck although I only put about 3,000 miles on it a year now that I have other toys. I always said that I'd own the truck for 20 years and I see no reason to change that except to rise it to 30 years!

my D/D is a 99 GMC sonoma. i bought the 4 cyl version though and didn't need 4WD in florida fo obvious reasons...

I love mine. it's been a great truck and i'd say the best vehicle i've ever owned. no trouble at all from this thing. i swapped out the 60/40 seats for cavalier bucket seats but other than than that, she's stock and will stay that way. and for the ford side....i had a ranger stx at one time. great truck as well. i beat the he!! out of that thing and it just kept asking for more!
