Well,
Tonight while watching my favorite hockey team, the Toronto Maple Leafs I found myself wanting to jump through the TV and beat the living crap out of Garnet Exelby, a "Heavy Hitting" defensemen for the Atlanta Thrashers. This isn't the first time i've wanted to just jump this idiot. Near the beginning of the season he held back Tie Domi, the Leafs resident fighter while another Thrashers player unloaded 5 punches on his face. And from a highlight I remember last season where Atlanta played Chicago and there was some penalty action going on on the ice, and all of the sudden, Exelby drops his gloves and starts to attack Tuomo Ruutu(?) of the Blackhawks. WhY? I dunno, but Ruutu isn't much of a fighter, if at all he has ever had a fight. Then one time while playing I beleive the Islanders finally Chris Neil got ahold of Exelby and beat the snot out of him.
My main point is the man should not take cheap shots: holding back players, attacking key players and jumping guys who are defenseless if he backs down from the consiquences. The next time Toronto and Atlanta met after the Domi incident early in the year, Domi challenged Exelby, Exelby hurried off the ice as soon as Domi motioned he wanted to drop the gloves. Then later in the game Wade Belak, another leaf Fighter, though he seems to be wimping out alot lately asks Exelby to dance and once again he backs down.
Now, dont get me wrong, theres a lot of players on the Leafs that do this, Tucker to be precise, but he doesn't do it quite as explicitly as Exelby and he knows better than to take out a key player and not expect that hes gonna take a beating on his face because of it.
Lemme know if im the only one who feels this way.
