It's not the SCX version (just SC I think - mid 90's car) so it probably doesn't have the 3.94 axle gear but the motor (QUAD 4) smokes big time. Otherwise the car is MINT. Must come pick it up. Car is in Wesport, MA. Owned by a middle-aged female. When the motor blew, it got donanted to a friend who was gonnna fix it but now just needs $$$. I think this is just a case of the quad 4 being a POS in it's early years. Taking offers. Or email me at lou@josephbiron.com... I'll try to get pics within the next week if there is interest. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the 284 only come on the 3.4 DOHC engine? The Quad4 would have the 282, similar to the one in the Fiero, but with a different bellhousing for the Quad4.

Still, those are cool cars. I hope someone wants to buy it to fix it up. They didn't make many of them with the 5-speed.

Yes, maybe you are right. I knew it wasn't a standard Fiero-able 282, I thought the 284 came on the 'quad cam' motors... The motor is toast. Blue smoke.

OK, he's looking to dump the car for $250. It's a 1993.
196k total miles it's on it's second motor (paperwork included)
No transmission issues.
Motor runs smooth except for blown headgasket causing smoke everywhere. No rod knock. SOHC 2.3 QUAD-4

Basically, pull the head and redo the gasket and you should be straight. If my license wasn't suspended, I would buy it.

The 284 was only able with the 3.4l DOHC and some rare foreign cars.

I think that is a Getrag 282, still a great trannsmission!
