Why are they called dubs.......aka larger diameter rims........???

I don't think there is a real specific reason, just slang. Like bling bling and etc

Dubs as in double-u's (W) as in Wheels.

'Dub' refers to 'double' which refers to the number 2 in the size - 20 inches (or more).

I've always heard "dubs" as slang for "W". As in K-Dubs for Kenworth trucks, V-Dubs for Volkswagens, etc. I wasn't sure why the reference was made to wheels, but I guess referring to the W in wheels makes sense.

Well, as much sense as most urban slang.

dubs = 20 inch rims only .....nothing bigger, nothing smaller

I was referring to the term more broadly, as in "dub-deuce" (22" rims), etc.
