I had my 88 for nearly a month now. I have already installed EPS power steering and some new headlights. I thought I would have a go at a widebody using a 355 front and rear bumper I have had lying around for the last couple of years. The rear is about 6 inches wider and the front about 3. Don`t expect it to be finished in a week or two it will take me a while.

Today I stripped off the old bumper and fabricated a couple of brackets to hold the new rear in place, then it started to rain I don`t have a garage so I am very weather dependant.

A couple of pics to start with.

So you're planning on using 355 kit car front and rear bumpers, leaving the rest stock, and then creating a wide body?

Here is a link to the wheels

http://www.mamfelgen.de/Sei...il.asp?design=MAMMT1

Here is a few pics of the lights and power steering

I routed the wires through the center console and the firewall direct to the battery

Then I connected the wirres for the switched points

Managed to build a circuit that when the stalk is pushed forward it toggles high beam and push again to disengage it.

A quick video of it working

looking good I did the same thing you are doing with the bumpers I used a 355 front and made a 360 style rear for mine.
you may have seen it in the build threads.
good luck and I will keep up with your build.

Got the bumper mounted. I am now starting to try and fill the top between the bumper and the bonnet.
If the rain holds off I will get another hour or two.

A couple of pics to keep it alive

Getting its first bit of filler. Once I am happy with this I will make some templates to make sure the other side is as close as possible.

Interesting project. Gotta love the UK, no one has garages. Nothing like working outside in the cold and the wet!

One comment though. That looks like an awful lot of bondo. Apart from the weight, won't it crack?

Yeah even if you have a garage in this country it`s barley big enough for the car. The bondo is less than a few millimeters thick the first coat is jjust to get any low spots, it will get sanded back and filled again and again.

So what's under the bondo? Did you build it out to your template line with something? Not clear from the pics, sorry.

PS. I am an ex Brit (North West UK) so I know what brit garages are like, even when you do have them.

Progress is looking good. I'm going to suggest though that you are going to have trouble with that nose dragging on everything. It looks longer than the one on my car and I absolutely hate it because it hits EVERYTHING!

It doesn`t stick out much more than the stock bumper. When I am finished getting the shape done I will make a mould from it. Project 2 is holding things up at the moment.

Thanks Carl
