Working on my new web page. Occasionally someone does not know how to install it into the switch. Looking for a close up picture of the steel piece going into the switch for my new web page.

I have one. Mine wouldn't stay in the switch until I filed a little notch into it. Maybe I'll go out and take some pics. It's dark, so they'll be flash pics.

Thanks for the close up. I know they tend to fall out if it is windy. I have been telling people to coat the end with some clear silicone. That should make them stay in.

It works for the models that have the light switch incorporated into the latch... I can't use one - on my 85, the switch is a push-button on the left hand side of the car.

It's a good thing to have if you have your car in a show, with the deck open the whole time to show off the engine, and you don't want to run down your battery.

I see, I guess ive never noticed if my 87 gt fastback has a light. So the light is located on the lock mechanism? and i guess im not quite clear on what the tag(remove before flight) is for. Does it (the metal clip) act as a current for the light, and when pulled out the light goes off? Lorin

The light is in the trunk itself. The switch is on the latch. The "remove before flight" thing just pushes the switch lever so that it opens, the same way it is pushed while the deck lid is closed. The hook wedges between the switch lever and the switch body.

I've also seen Fiero GTs with "Remove Before Flight" plugs in the GT exhaust tips. I thought that was an amusing touch for the show.
I have both, although my RBF tag is an actual one off of an aircraft. I found it at a swap meet while attending the St. Louis show back in 2000. The small tags on my exhaust tips were purchased at the Strategic Air and Space Museum...they were intented as zipper pulls for luggage. I have plastic plugs that fit the tips, and there is a cord that attaches to each side, keeping them together. The pull attaches to the cord.
