Many people have been asking me for information on the Gunnison Car Show in Colorado. Basically it's the largest Fiero venue in the region, especially states like Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona and Nebraska. Each year more and more PFF members are learning about this show, so it's no longer just Carlisle, Daytona and Dells Run. We actually have a top-notch place to show our cars, and enjoy the trout fishing of the Rockies.
Gunnison is not just another car show. The "gearheads" invade and pretty much take Gunnison over for the weekend. Besides just polishiing their cars, entrants can take part in the street dances, the poker run, and an awesome 30 mile caravan through some breathtaking and scenic Rocky mountains en route to a scrumptious breakfast in the quaint resort town of Crested Butte.
The Gunnison show has gained National attention, and last year was featured on National TV in an episode of Two Guys Garage. The Gunnison weekend also has the distinction of being where the annual Lee Iococa award is presented each year.
And for this year the Mile High Fiero Club club has arranged for an entire motel just for Fiero folks at a "group rate". But anybody wanting to take advantage of this discount, the camadarie, and fun will need to contact me so I can set a room aside for you.

Makin plans to attend. Just downloaded the registration form. It's 587 miles from El Paso to Gunnison. I am thinking of bringing my XTC/GT but I am not sure it's up for a 1200 plus mile trip. Right now I am planning on trailering the XTC. Still not sure if I'd put the car in the show as it is far from car show ready. Maybe in the "under construction" class. Or should I say "Always Under Construction" class.
So my question is, does someone from the are have any details on campgrounds? I'm thinking of "roughing it" for 3 or 4 days. The plan right now is to drive up Thursday, spend Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Gunnison and head home on Monday. I would have to run over to Grand Junction on Sunday as I have family there. I got to get busy.......

In talking with Mike Callahan, the events coordinator, we can get registered and pickup our goodie bags on Friday night. There will be a booth setup near the band shell much like last year. For those arriving on Saturday, just go to the gate marked "Show Cars" between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM

Not that I am against Hotels but I thought it would be a good chance to do some camping too. I was raised in Idaho and since I have been here in El Paso, I have went camping 0 times. It is not a lot of fun camping in El Paso! It looks like I'll be driving the Formula anyway so there is little room for camping gear. I'll most likely be staying in the hotel.

Just a week left to speak for a room at the "Fiero Inn", an entire motel that we reserved solely for the Fiero community. Right now there are 8 rooms left, but I will be releasing our block on any rooms not spoken for and assigned on August 1st. If anybody still needs or wants to take advantage of the special rates we have arranged, please drop me a note at george.ryan@sbcglobal.net before the first . .

I will still be going, but not sure if it will be in a Fiero or not. I may just bring the Bugeye again (I need to sell the Fiero, so I might not own it at show time). Make sure my room is still reserved for me!!

Original: Completely original - paint, upholstery, only cosmetic repair of minor dents, some chrome replacement, or repair of paint (not complete paint job). Bolt-on accessories can cause a vehicle to be deemed “Modified”.
Restored to Original: Original type parts - complete repaint in original colors, re-upholstered seats, headliner, etc. in original type materials. NO chrome wheels, valve covers, suspension parts, etc. (i.e. NO CHROME WHERE IT WAS NOT FROM THE FACTORY). Any changes from original-type materials could put the vehicle into the modified or street rod class.
Modified: Complete re-paint in non-original color(s), or type (i.e. flames, graphics, etc.), engine change, custom wheels, chrome parts on engine or suspension, etc.

Are you going to join us for the car show on Saturday? It starts at 8am and ends at 3pm, I think you can register the day of the show, but I am not sure I will check in to that and post the answer here.

13 days to go. Cars from Ok, KS, AZ, TX, NM, NE and Utah are participating this year. Sam Memmalo and the Speed Channel will no doubt be there again with a camera crew.

I drive my Fiero more than show it, if I sign up for the car show does that mean it will be judged??? I'm more interested in meeting you Fiero guys and that run someone was talking about. IF I make it and just show up can I still like be part of something? Or late registration? I got to admit, it would be a stretch to make it with my situation as it is right now, but IF I can make it, can the GT have some fun???

You are welcome to join us, and you do not need to be in the show to have a good time you can come up and enjoy all the other activities. Come on up and join us, there may be limited places to stay so you may want to check into that before you drive up. I think the Holiday Inn has a few rooms left http://www.ichotelsgroup.co...=n&_requestid=795945

We are looking forward to meeting all the new people at the Gunnison event this year, see you there.
This is the reply I received from the Gunnison car club regarding the show on Saturday: Saturday registration is open at the gate from 8am until 10am or so. Sometimes we have a few people come before or after that, but it seems that most people are there by 10, especially if they want their entry to be judged since voting closes at noon.

The caravan plans are set, only a few days to go until we all head out for Gunnison. We are planning on meeting at the Conoco in Morrison at 9:45 am on the 21st. Directions and a map of our planned route is at the bottom of the page.
We will be stopping for lunch around 12:30 ~ 1:00 in Poncha Springs at Los Girasoles, 10035 US Hwy 50, Poncha Springs, Co.
I spoke with Mike Calahan the other day about needing more space than we originally planned. There are way more Fieros coming than anyone anticipated, so he assured me they would make adjustments to accomodate all of us.
